After a number of phone calls to sky last week i managed to get the price of sky plus upgrade down from over £200 down to just £49. but that was only after i said i would cancel my sky package.
had it installed today and phoned again to ask why are others being given sky plus for free and not me?
they said that sky dont offer it free direct from themselves but third party companies like the stalls in shopping malls do.

Has anyone actually been offered it free direct from sky over the phone???

My dad rang Virgin Media today and threatened to go to Sky. He was offered a free V+ Box with installation. Its normally £150 for installation... but always on offer for £75.

So whats the cheapest anyone has got v+ for? I see they are selling the box for £75 which is half price...

They've been doing the £75 offer since before Christmas. It's not buying it as you don't own cable equipment only on loan to you whilst a customer.

Some have been getting it for £35, some £25 and some £0.

You might not have to pay that if you go for the VIP.

I think that thread's been closed and it's now referring you here.

I've just tried ringing and been on for an hour in 2 separate phonecalls and the best they'd offer me was £159  I then threatened to cancel and they wouldn't put me through, said I'd have to ring them on a different number. I said how come some existing customers can get it for free and you want to charge me £159 and he said maybe they threatened to cancel. I said are you telling me I have to threaten to cancel and he said I couldn't possibly say that, madam

Think I might try the other person's approach and email. They had me on record from ringing up previously and said we've already told you the price, why are you ringing back - huh!

I called Sky today to try and negotiate some deal as an existing customer with the full package of channels. Unfortunately I ended up with the 'overflow' customer services who were cheerfully going to drop my channels before I said I'd call back. She did say though that to be offered a free Sky+ Box you need to threaten to cancel Sky altogether.

I'm calling back tomorrow with better tactics!
