    Just an update!

Phoned BT who couldn't have been more helpful. If i stay with BT they will take my broadband down from £17.99 a month to £12.99 a month. Plus i get a free wireless modem. If you order BT Vision, you get a free box, like sky+, you can record etc. I think i am swaying towards Bt.
I like my money right where I can see it - hanging in my closet.;)

Called last night to cancel as I am currently paying 3 providers (SKY, Talk tallk & eclipse Internet) . Sky's website price was £41 per month plus £159 set up cost for the package I wanted ( 6 mixes, Sky+, 8 meg B/band, phone line rental + anytime free calls.) By asking to leave I got it all for £36 per month with £99 set up costs. Total monthly saving is £25 compared to paying 3 separate suppliers.
Reasonably happy with the deal, would have prefered not to pay anything up front but the monthly savings balance this out.:money:

Comet offering £49 Sky+ box and £99 Sky HD box, predicatably its an offer for new customers.
    http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/content.do?breadcrumb=yes&categoryId=1342&includeUrl=/comet/ev2/content/features/sky/html/new/sky.htm&pageName=sky.htm&knowledge=no

The refer-a-friend offer seems a better option for sky+ than this. But the HD offer is quite good. Although if you have managed this far without sky's subscription channels then probably better to wait for freesat HD option. But if someone is looking for a sky HD upgrade you might be able to get this in OH's name as a new customer.
  • Hi there. If you are a new customer interested in joining sky and getting free sky plus, I can refer you and get free sky plus too. pm me if you are interested please!
  • Now I have Sky+ I have a spare box and remote - I didn't realise you got a new box? Also, I had to have a new dish and cabling so I am pleased I got it through Sky and didn't go down the Ebay route. Anyway, this is my question - what can you do with the spare box? The Sky man mentioned I could use it as a Freeview box somewhere else? How does this work - I have a TV in my bedroom which is rubbish reception but I only have a plug in aerial which stands on top of the telly - no arieral from outside.

Just had long conversations with both Sky and Virgin (current customer with both). Best deal from Sky was £99 plus free installation for Sky+ box and £25 monthly fee for basic broadband (2MB)/TV and unlimited calls plus I'd then pay another £10 to BT for line rental.

But Virgin have come up with a great deal of £19.95 month for broadband (currently 2MB but increasing to 4MB in June)/unlimited calls (same package as Sky) plus free installation of basic TV box (not V+box) - so have just saved myself £25 month on phone calls and got free installation/free box and free monthly TV as I was currently paying £20 for phone line rental only and broadband.

So have decided to stick with Virgin for phone/broadband and free TV and put the money I've saved towards buying Sky+ for full price (online price £99 plus £60 installation). And save all the hassle of getting BT and transferring over which I've heard of nightmare stories....

And of course I can negotiate with both parties in another 12 months for the best deal then!

Hope to Virgin info is of some use to someone!

:T Just got this reply from one of the email addresses (MYSKY@bskyb.com) that I contacted.
    Dear
    Customer Account Number:
Thank you for your email regarding our Sky+ products.
Firstly allow me to apologise for any confusion.
I note you are clearly disappointed with regard to the cost provided in respect of your recent Sky+ booking and promotional offers.
Promotional offers are made available via our Marketing team and are normally issued by post code. Although you have failed to receive a promotion you may receive a similar promotion at some point in the future.
On checking your account I understand that you have cancelled your Sky account in principal of the above.
I also note you have indeed been with Sky for quite some time and in appreciation of your loyal custom I am on this occasion willing to provide you with Sky+ at the reduced rate of 60.00 (GBP) including installation.
Please note that upgrading to Sky+ carries a twelve month contract and the box will require to be connected to the telephone line.
Should you wish to accept my offer please provide a daytime contact number in your response. A credit or debit card payment will be required at time of booking.
I hope that you will consider my offer and look forward to hearing your decision accordingly at the email address above.
    Yours sincerely
    Customer Relations

I don't thinks it's the done thing to actually publish the name of the Sky Dude on MSE.

Perhaps you could edit your post before the moon comes crashing out of the sky?
