I have the 3 for £30 quid deal with virgin plus two mobile sims for the kids at £10 a month each. No sports or movie channels. Had a curtesy call offering me V+ for one off payment of £25 quid, no extra monthly, plus would resite old box to bedroom for £5 a month. Thought this was a good deal so they delivered today.

Two questions, first, everything goes through the one channel which is scart one now, there are no other channels like before, is this right? Second, because of the first point there is no text?

    Hope this makes sense

Anyone with Virgin Media on Phone+Broadband+Mobile ?

Did you manage to beat the £30 bundle cost, perhaps by threatening to leave ?

Currently have Phone + Broadband and am paying full whack, looking to add mobile and cut the cost.

    Cheers :)

We rung Sky and requested to cancel on the basis that we could not afford the contract any more. Having read through the forums I thought they would offer me a deal on a reduced rate for a period of time. I note some people were offered 1p a month for 6 months. The guy that answered my call simply said fine and gave us 30 days notice.

I don't really want to have it cancelled. will they call me back before the 30 days

Suggest you look at my posts on the "Warning" thread, use the email addresses on there and ask whether or not they wish to keep loyal customers.

I've currently got Virgin Talk Anytime Along with the 4MB Internet service - I simply asked for (months ago) for a discount - to cut to the chase I pay £23.95 for Internet, line rental and Talk.

    HTH

But my question - when I asked and got this deal I was told it was for life and I could ask for and get for free the lower end Digital TV Service.

Is it worth risking highlighting my current deal by now asking for the TV element?

I used to have Telewest TV a few years ago in the same house so I guess I'm wired in - is there any way around the installation charge?

  • I threatened to cancel last week cos I wanted Sky+ on a good deal - they offered it for £99 with free installation if i took up Sky Talk. I rang today to say I would take the deal up and was told that it was not available as the offer had only been available that day during that call!! Pursued the point and eventually got the deal, although the computers crashed and the whole thing took almost 1 hour to arrange??? Finally sorted it, paid £99 and getting it installed Friday (earliest date was Wed) - hope it's worth it all - can someone confirm that Sky+ is worth it and my life will be enhanced!!!!!!!

Nope its not worth it. You could pay less than that for a PVR box with same facilities and not pay any monthly fee to SKY. Yuo could also get a Virgin V+ box with more facilities for less money....£75 unless you negotiate a better deal.
    Still........

I think you're going to love it! We can't get sky+ where we live because of how the building is wired (something to do with a Sky satellite for all is on the roof, and it's not wired right for sky+ to let us record one channel while we watch another -- it seems to mess up any DVR). Anyway, we were sorely disappointed and bought a DVD recorder that lets us pause live tv to get around the problem, but we would much rather have Sky+. We had a DVR with our cable service in the States and it was wonderful! It's so nice to just tell the system to record any new episodes of your favorite shows so you never miss anything and don't have to remember to set a timer to record. And to be able to record one program while you watch another is great, too. Once you've tried it, you'll never go back!

Thanks Magicstar. I just called Sky to cancel movies and they offered me £33 for 3 months. I normally pay £45 (+HD +Multiroom). My Sky package without movies would be £38. Just need to decide what to do in 3 months time.

You guys inspired me to call Sky, and I got a bit of a deal. I called to say that I was thinking of switching to Virgin, but I'd stay if they could add movies to my package for the same price I was already paying. They said they couldn't do that, that they've never offered discounts on movies (?). But they did offer to knock £5 a month off of my bill for one year for unlimited Sky Talk (which we already had and is a must for us as we call the States a lot). I also went from a six-mix of channels to the three that we mainly watch - Variety, knowledge and news. AND Sky now is a phone provider, so we switched from BT to them, which saves us £2 a month.

New bill: £38 a month for phone line service, 3 mix of channels, unlimited broadband, unlimited Sky Talk
Old bill: £40 for Sky services and £11.99 for BT = £52
Savings: £14 a month for first year; £9 a month after that

Not bad. Thanks guys! Let's just hope they actually give me a deal without messing up the bill or our TV/Internet/Phone service!

ADDED: I just thought -- these changes didn't put me under another year contract, did they? The man on the phone never said it did, but then again, the discount on Sky Talk is for year. I really don't want to be locked in for another year just in case we move out of the country (which we probably won't do this year, but ya never know).
