 I could not DISAGREE with you more. Inevitably anything on private sites is on sites like mininova withing a day or so anyway!
Never pass up the opportunity to take a pee!:p
  • My sky diish broke down a few months ago due to the weather in my area so i genuinly called them up saying I was going to cancle and I got the charge for a the engineer removed saving me £60.
Now my sky + box is goig out so I will see if I can get a similar deal they are trying to charge me £209 for the box yet they are selling the box for £149 online.
I spoke to this guy who insisted I needed a sky HDD box too even though i repetedly told him i dont have a HDD ready TV
If I cant wrangle a deal out of sky I know plenty of places were I can get a cheap sky + box but is it just a case of plug in and it will play or do I actually need an engineer to do it for me. Im ok with technology but hate anything to do with TV's my boyfreind is a true tech nerd so im pretty sure he will be able to figure it out I just dont know if its possible to do this as a DIY job I hope so cause it will save me a fair bit.
  • Avoid Sky. They are the worst company I've ever dealt with. The support staff and engineers are useless and Sky rip you off with their expensive 0870 support numbers which you have to hang onto for ages before you get any 'service'.

If your Sky + breaks down, through no fault of your own, even within a few weeks of you buying it from them, they force you to pay a charge for an engineer to come out to fix it (and, of course, he doesn't turn up when they says he will).

Nothing given. i have very kindly been offered the recommed a friend voucher from fellow MSE member but am not sure if i can use it. i have spent hours trailing through sites to see if my husband can become a new customer after my cancellation is complete. will have to say i have left him!!! can someone please clarify this? if you have done this, what did you say to them? any advice much appreciated

In same position and would be interested in the answer please?

You are covered for free call outs on the Sky+ for the 12 months guarantee. Outside that you just tell them to cancel the subscription as there's no way you are paying to have them fix a box when you need the box to view their channels, if they want you to continue to pay the subscription, they can pay for the fix. I have not personally known anyone pay for the call out / fix.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

Yes you can do this and get your other half to sign up in their names. If sky ask then just say you have just moved in and have not had sky before. There is no sky equipment in the property and no dish. They will be happy to sign you up. I have PM'd you some codes. If you do sign up then can you PM me back with your account number and address and account holder name as i will then need to call sky to validate the referal.
Sky will confirm this anyway with you. Hope this helps.
    Thanks
  • Hi,

As an existing customer I wanted to upgrade to Sky Plus, so rang them. They said that they are currently not doing any deals on upgrades, so I threatened to cancel. Still didn't offer me any deal!!! Have just re-instigated my account, after having thought they might ring me back with an offer, but no!!

I have two Introduce a friend to Sky Plus offers, You get sky plus for free (£209), which also gives me Sky Plus upgrade for free. This seems to be the only way at the moment to get Sky Plus without forking out a fortune.

If anyone wants a code please PM me so that we can both benefit. The offer is valid until 7th March.

    Cheers.

Just called Sky to cancel my subscription. Mentioned I don't get time to watch it seeing if they would make me a decent offer on Sky+. Best he said he could do was £99 for the box with free installation. Mentioned others had got the whole thing free but wouldn't make a better offer. Was told subscribers with 3yrs or more could get it for £49. So I cancelled anyway. I download most of my TV these days anyway. ;)
