airtrack ive just got rid of sky and moved to virgin but i didnt know i could download lost series 4 from virgin.where is it?

Do you have a V+ box?

If you have a standard box, it must feel awful not having a 7 Day EPG and a clumsy system compared to a Sky box.

I could never get used to how bad the standard box software was, so got a V+ which at least gives you 7 day EPG, though still ropey software.

I now use satellite for the free channels and cable for the rest. Just wished cable to get a decent software on their boxes.

I'm not interested in sport, so the loss of red button (and the extra games) on the sports channels isn't an issue to me.

I phoned up yesterday to cancel, and they asked why. I said most things I watch are on the freeview channels. The only stuff on the channels I pay for is on at 11pm or midnight - no good when I have to get up at 5 for work!
He asked if I had thought about sky plus and I said I had looked on the website and it was £99 plus £60 installation, which was way too much considering I could get a freeview PVR for £50 (as seen on this site!) and install it myself, then save £19 per month on top. He said ok, thats done, your last day will be 15th March. Thanks for calling. Then he hung up!
Over 12 years with them to be treated like that!
VM is a no go as it is not available down my street.
It looks like its just the freeview channels on the sky box for me then. DD not pleased about losing disney channel, but never mind.

Does anyone know how long it will be before I can sign up as a new customer?

  • If anyone is interested I have a couple of vouchers for the free Sky + and £50 vouchers for introduce a friend.

Stick with the Freesat channels on satellite (Note: Freeview is through the aerial and not the satellite dish) and add Freeview for some of the channels that aren't free on Freesat.

You soon get used to not having the channels around. The only reason I have cable TV is at first it was free with my discounted broadband, but 2 years later they wouldn't continue the offer again (was only a 12 month off) so I told them to cancel the lot, they then said 'Please don't go...' and gave me discounted broadband, TV and free phone line and calls package and caller display - got a better deal out of them than I was happy to continue with previous.

I'd have been quite happy with just the free channels as you soon get used to what there is and I'm sure DD will find something else to do instead of TV and the Disney Channel.

I'm sure she will! A bit of housework would be nice!:j But unlikely! LOL

I have cancelled my broadband and was going to go to sky for it, but need to rethink that too now!
It's fun this money saving malarky, eh!:rotfl: :rotfl:

anyone know how to get sky+ free for an existing Sky customer? As an existing Sky+ customer I got a leaflet through the post saying if I recommend a friend they get a sky+ box free and I get £50 M&S vouchers --- but I want to get sky+ for my dad who is already an existing sky customer.

I am beginning to hate companies like sky - always giving new customers better incentives than existing loyal customers
  • my last few days with sky are up this week. have been trying to get sky+ at good price or free. no luck. had to carry out my threat to cancel and have had no offers. just been on to them again to see if any "new" offers appeared since cancelling. Nothing given. i have very kindly been offered the recommed a friend voucher from fellow MSE member but am not sure if i can use it. i have spent hours trailing through sites to see if my husband can become a new customer after my cancellation is complete. will have to say i have left him!!! can someone please clarify this? if you have done this, what did you say to them? any advice much appreciated

Mininova is a good site but suprisingly a customer service rep at Virgin advised that he downloads all his programmes from BTJUNKIE so that he doesnt have to pay for Sky!!!

As most of these tv programmes are from the usa they are available before they are on sky anyway.
