We are moving house in a month so called Sky up on friday night and had the usual fun with them. 3 seperate calls (I kept getting accidently cut off) in the space of 30 mins and probably at least 10 different people spoken to. Wanted to cancel my Sky+ World, Broadband and Telephone. Eventually transferred to the Broadband/Telephone dept who cancelled me, to then pass me back to the Sky TV person to tell me that a system error would not allow her to cancel the TV as the broadband had just been cancelled (apparently it had to be done the other way around:confused: ). Anyway she raised a query and they will call back in the week to confirm its been canned.

Anyway in the event of all the above, they offered to move the Sky to the new house for £65, then £50 and then £0. Tried to get them to give me a free Sky+ box if I took multiroom (already have existing Sky+ box which would have been used downstairs) but all they could offer was £99. Ah well, will see what they offer in the week....
  • i tried everything 3 weeks ago to get sky+ for free or to match virgin v+ for £75. have been customers for 15+ years. got offered jacksh**!!! Told them to cancel and was going to virgin. they didnt give a stuff and i have one week left before it goes off and am hoping for a retaining call but not holding out much hope. dont really want to cancel cos everything we watch is on sky one. will get my husband to call and say we have changed our mind if i have to!!! even if you go all the way and actually carry out the threat to cancel it doesnt make any difference. will let you all know if i get a call.

Why dont you move to Virgin???? you get all everything Sky can offer except Lost/Prison break but you can download them in no time with Virgin 20mb broadband!!! (for free before they are even aired on sky).
I cancelled just before Xmas and I dont miss it a bit - just watching episode 3 of Lost as we speak:D

Except you can't get everything Sky can offer.

You get less channels, VM's newsgroups often get why can't we have this channel / that channel etc.

There are over 200 channels / stations free on satellite yet many are not part of VM's line up. There are subscription channels that are not part of VM's line up.

If you are a Sky Sports viewer then there is no interactive on cable - so you miss matches that are on the interactive stream.

There is no digital teletext on cable. There is very very limited interactive on BBC and I think ITV, but it's so slow, clunky and ropey it's not worth using.

    VM's boxes are ropey.

(I'm a VM subscriber and satellite viewer).

Recently if you went to an ASA (Authorised Sky Agent) and not direct to Sky you were able to get Sky HD for £149 + £30 installation without the need of taking any other services.

Cable is a poor man's version of satellite - technically it should be superior to satellite due to excellent return path, but due to poor boxes, poor infrastructure and lack on capacity (reason why only 1 HD channel compared to 13 on satellite and reason for no Arsenal TV and other channels) cable is a let down.
