Strange that, Freeview channels come through an aerial and not a satellite box!
That's unless you mean the Freesat channels. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -

Same happened to me then they started phoning and sending mail asking why was I not coming back with offers that did not entice me as I think sky is more or less rubbish apart from the footy.

If I decided to leave Sky I wouldn't want to come back, which is exactly what I did after the first year. There was nothing on there I considered good enough to pay for.0

I was looking to upgrade to sky + after having the full sky package for 12 years! After reading these pages, I decided to haggle - I explained to sky that I could not afford the £129 upgrade price they wanted and after an hour of trying, I decided to cancel my subscription completely. Funnily enough, I was cut off when trying to cancel for the next hour and a half (this was after calling sky back 4 times!) and eventually got through to a very helpful lady who said we could upgrade to sky+ for £29. After another 20 mins of waiting on the phone whilst she dealt with this, she came back only to say that her quota of deals had gone for the day and there was nothing she could do! Totally fed up with sky and them having absolutely no consideration for their loyal customers I cancelled immediately and today, sky was broadcast in our house for the last time! We have had no "special offer deals" or anything from sky, so take that on board! I had decided to cancel anyway if we could not get a good deal, but if you do ring, make sure it's early in the morning as most of their deals are on a first-come,first-served basis and once they're gone, that's it for the day!!! :mad:0

Can anyone help me with the great people at Virgin Media.
I have TV(size L),v+,Phone and Broadbrand.
It is advertised as 3 for £30 but i actually pay £50
The reason for this is that for the v+ service i get charged £15 PER MONTH extra and £5 for a non direct debit charge. I called Virgin Media up and asked what it would be to ditch the phone and have just broadband and tv but was told that i would be charged an extra £10.50p!! The guy went through some real complicated 'discount' procedures and he lost me. I also asked what would happen if i dropped to TV Size M from my current L package. He told me that would cost an extra £9 per month. I though that the whole idea of coming down a package was to save money but Virgin Media seem to punish you! I asked if i was a new customer what would they charge to have what i want. He said for V+ and TV Size L and Broadband Size Small i would pay.........£35!! can anyone help with trying to get a better deal from them or is Sky a better optoion?end the tv tax0 -

I don't understand why Sky consider this to be good business practice. Why would they want to keep customers in the morning, but by the evening let potentially loyal, high value customers go? That system doesn't make any sense at all.0 -
Hi - tried a haggle deal a couple of weeks ago, and they didnt go for it, and i have ahad a letter confirmiing cancellation on 11 jan.
Have now decided to keep sky to make life more peaceful and just wondered which is the best way to do it.
a - just call up and cancel cancellation
b - join as a new customer in hubbys name (new offers & cashback?)
any ideas which way would be cheapest? on a basic package £19 a month - had t for about 2 years.
thanks for any replies0 -
My current sky contract is now 13 months old (mix 4), since i renewed again after a 2 year break.
I would have liked to upgrade to sky+ for free; particularly since they were offering it to new customers and whoever recommended them during December, so I telephoned today and explained that due to the shift patterns my wife and i work, we do not get to watch the programs that we would like so feel that £19 a month for TV we do not watch is a waste of money. I said that i therefore wanted to cancel the subscription. The guy then spent 10 minutes trying to convince me to pay £20 a month for a basic sky package including the 8mb broadband. When i said i would still be paying for TV that i cannot watch he said look on it as paying for broadband with the TV for free and that he didn't understand why such a good deal would not appeal to me! When i refused this offer he then just processed the cancellation without any further comment.
We really do not use sky that much (although sky+ for free would have been useful and would have resulted in us possibly watching more), so i look on the cancellation as being £19 a month saved for the time being; i will just need to wait until i get a worthwhile "come back to sky" offer.
It may be sheer coincidence, but i feel i really suffered bad luck with that particular call centre today. My previous disconnection and subsequent reconnection were all dealt with by scottish staff, but when i phoned today, all the cheaper alternatives to sky's 0870 numbers had recorded messages insisting that you dialled the 0870 number to deal with customer service. When i did, i got a foreign call centre that asked me why i wanted to leave; when i told them my reasons i got transferred to disconnections, but instead of the usual friendly scottish cancellation staff, i spoke to someone who was quite arrogant and did not appear to have english as a first language; they really just wanted to get me to take their broadband package:mad:0 -
Just been on the phone to the 'i want to leave' team at Virgin Media and what a result!
The services i have at the mo are TV Size L , V+, Broadband Size L and Phone Size M. As before i pay nearly £50 but have just got off the phone to a very nice lady who has reduced it to £30 per month which is better than what a new customer would get. . Thats a saving to me and i have to say it was easy and nice. I explained i was not happy to loose one service and get charged an extra £10.50 to do so or drop my TV size and pay an extra £9 per month. I advised her that on Virgin Media's website i could get what i wanted for £35 per month and said if it's not sorted i'm going over to Sky which i am glad i don't have to as i hear they can be rather difficult to speak with as in i speak english. One reason for me going with Virgin Media is i don't have to pay BT line rental.end the tv tax0
