free equipemnt / call out maybe..... free channels - not likely

Why not, I've had it and know people loads of times.
  • Right, so i finally decided to get sky in as i have just moved into a new house and thought i would go for the tv/broadband/talk package. I logged on through quidco for my £125 cashback and ordered the 3 package deal with Broadband base and a standard sky box. Unfortunately when i tried to confirm the order i was informed that i already had a minidish so i could not process the order. (there was obviously a dish installed at this property before but it is not there now)! But here's the rub, I was allowed to order if i changed my order to sky plus at an extra £99

When i phoned them i was told that if i wanted the basic package then i could not go through quidco as they could not change the system info to read there was no dish at this property!

I am not even a sky customer and they are screwing me already!!

I rang up today and spoke to a scottish lady , i said i wanted to cancel and she talked about changing my package to something lower and mentioned sky +. I asked what deals she could do as i cant afford £100 , she said there are no deals at the moment so i said i want to cancel then ... she said let me talk to someone , just hold.
She came back and said she could do it for £50 but you gotta get multiroom aswell for £10 per month... i said i'll think about it and ring back she said ok all the details will be left for whoever takes the call.

Just rang back and waited 30 mins and got a scottish guy called ALLEN , i said i rang up before and was offered sky + for £50 , and before i had finished he cut me off and said in a very rude tone of voice "WE DO NOT DO SKY + FOR £50!! I said i had just spoke to a woman who offered it me and said i know people who have got it for free , nevermind £50 then he put the phone down!
Im so angry!!!!! What the hell was his problem!

i had an email just b4 xmas saying i could have a top up tv box for £49.99 instead ov £99.99 so the other day i rang them and asked about the deal.....you tell them you've been a customer in the past...maybe 3 or 4 yrs ago an went to sky but now you want to come back to them with the box (its like a sky+ box as in u can record 2 diff chanels at the same time) you then have to agree to stay with them for 12mths at £10 pm i think its worth it??

see here...it does say on the site its £99.99 but phone them as said

Other than the 200 or so free TV and radio stations you get anyway as they are Free To Air so any box and dish will pick them up without subscription.

Though when I was with Sky, I've had free Sports and Film channels a few times.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

TopUpTV isn't worth it, maybe £1 per month, but that's pushing it.

  • Hi,
can anyone help me re Virgin V+
I'm thinking of having their all in one £35 a month package. Is that all I pay or is there a charge for using the V+ part if I have that installed too. And also I might be rubbish at reading T's and C's but do you have to watch your recorded programmes within a certain time?
    Thanks

I have also just signed up for V+ but managed to get its for £25 plus the one off fee of £75 for the V+ box. Originally I rang for a quote without V+ and it was about
£10-£15 more on the phone than on the internet, so get a quote online first, then ring up for a quote and ask them to match it online. You shouldn't have to pay any installation fees (covered in the £75 for the box). If you can't get it any cheaper on the phone then do it online through quidco, I think you get it for around £50 quid cash back that way.

The V+ box has a 160GB hard drive, which means it physically records the programmes to the box and stores it there, so you can watch it whenever you want and as many times as you want.

    Hope this helps a bit.

P.S No extra charge for the V+ side of thing, I believe, unless you want to watch films on demand but you should get a warning that its going to charge before you watch it, i.e. you can stumble across it by channel hopping and be charged automatically.
