When I tried to get a reduction on the £150 price of v+ a few weeks ago, the person on the phone said that he couldn't budge on it but advised me to put it in writing to their Swansea office and they might give a better offer. I did this, quoting the Sky free sky+ & free installation offer. Just got a call from Virgin, where I got a telling off for complaining, told that I'm already on substantial discounts and that I'm in contract with them until next March (even though I was told when I negotiated a deal that this didn't put me under any 12 month contract!).
  • After two lengthy discussions with Virgin i've managed to get the XL TV package and with this V+ for £10 per month. This isn't great as it would only cost me £150 one off fee to get it but they've given me a £30 discount (£10x12) so i've accepted. I would have liked it for less and tried my hardest but they really wern't budging....

I also tried for a Broadband upgrade from 2mb to 4mb but they wouldnt do this either.....

Maybe i should have moved to Sky but i really couldn't be bothered with the hassle.!

Melissa, do you have to pay an installation fee for the V+? I was also offered the £10 per month option but the installation fee would have been £75, so it really wasn't worth it. Still trying to decide whether to splash out the £150 or wait until it comes down in price.

the only way to get it without paying the £150 is by going on the £85 per month vip package.

Is it possible to pay the VIP for 1 month then reduce to something cheaper?

Not sure if the vip deal is tied to a fixed term contract. I have a couple of 'customer loyalty' discounts at the moment, so wouldn't like to risk it, in case I couldn't get them back. They don't seem as free with the discounts/upgrades as they were when they first lost sky1. Have just seen this on their website http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html/dtv/vplus/offer.html
which is offering v+ free to new customers, so maybe it's the start of some price drops??

I can understand paying for BB and phone but there isn't one channel on Tv that I would pay for.
I'm multisat I've got thousand of channels but don't sub to anything.

Never heard of multisat, what is it and how do I get it?

Well that means you have on dish on a motor or one dish with a few LNB's on it (they sit on the end of the arm and pick up the signal on different sats) or different dishes pointed at different sats so you get channels from all over the world for free.
Most people of course have Sky and have a Sky dish which is aligned to one sat only.

Why would you want to go on the £85 pm package??! when £150 one off fee is much cheaper!!?

I haggled and got it for £120 over 12 months....as i couldn't afford the lump sum

  • I phoned up today, my bill has gone up to approx £40.00, I want a V+ box, But advisor told me they cannot move on the price of £150.00. Lots of people are getting them now for £25.00, but not sure if only for new customers, web site does not mention this.

They offered me 12 months @ £34.00 for XL TV, M Broadband and Talk unlimited phone.
I refused expecting another deal. They did not offer one, so i am now on 30 days notice.
I will ring back in 2 weeks and tell them i have changed my mind and will report back what i am charged for next 12 months.
