I like in a semi, and the dish sits nicely on the side wall of our shed. I Don't really know where they get the extra £50 from, its not as if new customers wanting sky+ would have a dish anyway!

I thought a new dish was included in the installation price? I got Sky HD at the end of July and I got a new dish (mine was rusted) included in the £30 installation price. However, my parents got Sky+ a couple of weeks ago and the installer said they wouldn't need their dish replaced as it still looked new (they've had it for a couple of years). I think they should have got something off the installation price if they didn't get the dish. Or at least been allowed to keep the dish incase the one they had went wrong in the future.

Are you in a flat or is your dish somewhere that's not easily accessible? I do know they charge extra if it's not a standard install.

No much point in replacing the dish if there is nothing wrong with it.If you get Sky+ I believe they change the LNB (the bit on the end of the arm that collects the signal) so you get two cables coming out instead of one so you can watch one channel on one tuner and record with the other tuner in the receiver.
  • I'd been with Telewest / Virgin for a while. Up until next week I've been paying £29 for broadband and phone with free weekend calls. I have freeview for the TV.

I rang them, hit the numbers for disconnecting from Virgin services, said I was thinking about moving to TalkTalk unless they had anything they could offer me. Mentioned TalkTalk's Talk3 International call plan (£20.49 for broadband and any time phone)

They offered me an improvement of my phone plan to free any time local and national calls, broadband and free TV, all for £19.95 a month (with a 12 month tie in)

Brilliant! Saving £120 a year before calls, getting more free calls, getting free TV as well! All for less than seven minutes on the phone! Cheers Martin!!!

Me too! I had been paying about £65/£70 per month for telly package, broadband and telephone with Virgin. I rang them to say I was going to talk talk as I couldnt afford to pay it anymore and they put me on that package. Although they did say we would still have Sky One with the freeview but a few days later it stopped cos of the big scrap between Virgin and Sky. Still saving a fortune though. I make a lot of international calls and it is so much cheaper. My bills have gone from £70 ish to £25 ish per month. I know a lot of people who cant stand Virgin Media/ Telewest and who have had a lot of problems but I have been a customer of theirs for 6 years and have never had a problem.

I can understand paying for BB and phone but there isn't one channel on Tv that I would pay for.
I'm multisat I've got thousand of channels but don't sub to anything.
  • I know what you mean FH, I wouldn't pay extra for the channels available, especially with freeview about.

The main reason I'm getting it is for Virgin On Demand. Still can't quite believe the saving and improved phone package I'm getting, never mind the free TV...

I have been trying for a while for a free v+ box with no luck. I spoke to a nice woman in retentions this week who said that they have no leeway with the v+ boxes at the moment, the only way to get it without paying the £150 is by going on the £85 per month vip package. i will just have to put it on my christmas list!
