Not really to do with getting a good deal but... After many years with Sky and much documented trials and tribulations about not getting a deal when I cancelled, ended up without Sky a few months ago. Can honestly say I have not missed it for a second. With the money I have saved bought a freeview recorder and a second freeview box for the bedroom. Not interested in sport and get movies, etc, through DVD hire. Keep looking at the TV pages and haven't seen a single thing I feel I'm missing.
Just as well, as haven't had a single decent offer to tempt me back!0 -
Never heard of multisat, what is it and how do I get it?
Multi-Sat is where you normally have a motorised set-up, but can be a dish with several LNBs on it.
You have a satellite receiver that can either switch to the various LNB which is offset to point at different satellites in the Sky, or the satellite receiver sends a signal to the motor to move the dish to the chosen satellite.
There are many satellites up in the Sky broadcasting TV stations.
Many people are brainwashed by Sky thinking Sky is the only way / service in the UK.
Sky don't even own any satellites, they like the BBC, ITV and channels just lease capacity from a set of satellites located at 28.2e and 28.5e. These are owned by SES Astra and Eutelsat. At this location there are around 100 TV channels broadcasting in the clear (Free To Air) and around the same for radio as long as you have a dish pointed at this location and a digital satellite receiver (doesn't have to be a Sky dodgy-box) you'll pick up the channels.
When you add in the other satellites you can end up with thousands of channels which are free to watch.
http://www.lyngsat.com/europe.html Has a list of satellites and channels you can receive. Some are free channels, some are encrypted and you need to pay a subscription for.
With satellite Sky isn't the limit. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -

I phoned up today, my bill has gone up to approx £40.00, I want a V+ box, But advisor told me they cannot move on the price of £150.00. Lots of people are getting them now for £25.00, but not sure if only for new customers, web site does not mention this.
They offered me 12 months @ £34.00 for XL TV, M Broadband and Talk unlimited phone.
I refused expecting another deal. They did not offer one, so i am now on 30 days notice.
I will ring back in 2 weeks and tell them i have changed my mind and will report back what i am charged for next 12 months.
This is a good offer. The 3 for £30 deal is what you've been offered and it's £4.95 extra for unlimited calls so they have been fair here...
If you want V+ like me, they offered me it for £10pm which im happy with
x
Quidco to date = £1224 cashback

Thanks a lot for the info BexTech, you're opening up a whole new world to me, been with Sky for about 14 years and fed up with them. Have looked at the site you mention and not sure how to proceed, sorry to sound a little dim. What I would like is to view sports channels, ie Premiership footy, PGA Golf and other stuff similar to what Sky provide without paying £35 a month. I currently watch Sky about 5 hours a week and that's on a good week!! so you can see why am wanting to save money. Any suggestions you got for this complete novice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any more tips you can share. BillMulti-Sat is where you normally have a motorised set-up, but can be a dish with several LNBs on it.

There are lots of sat forums where you can find out about sat Tv from other satellites not just Sky. It's an interesting hobby. Many foreign sats have films that are in the foreign language of that country and also the original English soundtrack.0
