Actually not sure about the Sky box+ but with the older Sky boxes you owned them from day one. If you had a 12 month contract and stopped paying they would come after you but you owned the equipment and they wanted their money if you defaulted not the equipment back.

Never had digital cable but I do believe they usually rent your the cable box and will fix or replace if it goes wrong.

After following the advice from someone on another forum, I emailed them querying why they offer customers who want to leave Sky the opportunity to upgrade for only £49!! Got the standard computer generated reply to my first email, so, emailed again. Then got a call from a CSA in the Cancellations Department.... who offered me the same thing. Got it installed yesterday, PVR3/Anytime, for £49, saving £130!!! I edited my emails and created 2 templates which I have PM'd to others on that forum and it seems to have worked a treat for them too. The advice I was given was to email and not call the Cancellations Department and I followed the steps given and it worked without me having to pick up the phone once.

OGB was kind enough to PM me the email templates as mentioned above (on the "other" forum), I edited them to suit my own circumstances and after a few emails between Sky and myself, I am now getting Sky+ installed for £49 with free installation at the end of the week. I had to threaten to cancel though, which I fully intended to do if they hadn't let me have it at the discounted price.

    Hello

Would it be possible to send me the templates please? I have tried with phone calls unsuccessfully lately and I'm hoping an email attempt may have more effect.

    Thanks in advance

I phoned up today, my bill has gone up to approx £40.00, I want a V+ box, But advisor told me they cannot move on the price of £150.00. Lots of people are getting them now for £25.00, but not sure if only for new customers, web site does not mention this.

They offered me 12 months @ £34.00 for XL TV, M Broadband and Talk unlimited phone.
I refused expecting another deal. They did not offer one, so i am now on 30 days notice.
I will ring back in 2 weeks and tell them i have changed my mind and will report back what i am charged for next 12 months.

I negotiated a good deal with Virgin when they first lost Sky One, however a couple of months ago they pulled the deal without notifying me, I only noticed when I saw that my bill had gone up 30%! I phoned them and was told I shouldn't have been offered the deal in the first place, so I told them where they could stick their cable. They collect in 3 weeks time! They did not try to negotiate at all, and following a small piece of investigation I find that Virgin is now more expensive than Sky when using the See, Surf Speak package (or whatever it's called!). The Sky package is £35 (including Sky Sports) + £11 BT line rental making £46. I am curently being charged £48 for M BB, M Phone, XL tv & Sky Sports. So Sky is £2 a month cheaper AND I would get free evening calls.
  • I'm 8 months into a 12 months contract, currently subscribed to 2 mixes + Sky sports package (i think its £35).

Rang up to downgrade to 2 mixes told them the reason is to save some money and was offered the keep the same package for £26 for next 3 months.
