Since 1st September the minimum is 1 "mix" and that costs £16 now - 2 "mixes" £17 and each extra "mix" is an extra £1 up to all 6.

Yes my Mum was already a Sky customer.

Have you any tips on how to get Sky+ for £49? :)

My parents have been Sky customers since 1990 and they've seen the Sky+ facilities we have with our HD box (they're only needing Sky+ though, not the HD), and they'd really like it. I was going to phone on their behalf, but i'm not sure how to go about it. Last time I phoned for them I was only offered it for £99 plus £30 installation.

From what you say they'll be well outside their minimum period - I called on behalf of my Mum and said she wanted to cancel (they will want a quick word with the subscriber just to say it's ok for you to talk on their behalf). When asked why I told them she was out when her progs were on and the Sky+ was too expensive and videoing these days was somewhat awkward.

They then offered the £49 + box incl installation. A few days later and it's installed and all is well with the world!
  • whoooh ive finally got it for £49!! 3rd time of trying and being after it for about 4 months :rotfl:

Took an half hour phone call though, although probably 50% of that was me going "hmmmm, not sure" just to see if i could manage to get a subs deal thrown in ;) ,

that didnt work though, but you have a month cancellation time on Sky+ so i might ring in 2 weeks and say i want to send it back as i dont subscribe to enough channels for it to be worth it and see what they say...or is that just being greedy??? :rotfl:

No your not being greedy - if you don't try you don;t get.

I was with them for 7 years before trying the WANT TO CANCEL trick then they gave me full package for a total of 9 months. Before this I had never even had a call from CS or anything yet friends & family seem to get calls with offers frequently.

They make fortunes from us & whilst reducing the quality of programmes so it's ok in my book.

I've had the movies on, no sports, for 6 months. I never watch it & when I want to the movies are rotten - we generally end up watching old movies or get a dvd.

Time for a phonecall I think!

I only managed to get Sky+ for £99 for my parents. I got through to the cancellations. I gave them all the 'they can't work the video recorder cos they're old lol/I know someone who got it for £49/they've been loyal Sky customers for 19 years, can't you do them any deal?' but they were hard! He told me it would be £99 plus £30 installation so I eventually said okay. After i'd given him my card details he said that £99 would be taken from my account. I asked if that was everything and he said it was. I think he's forgotten to charge for the installation as I only have £99, and not £129, pending payment in my bank account.

    It was worth a go.
  • My Sky package includes Sports and News and now costs me £35. I am overpaying or what?
