After going through Customer Services, sales and somehow installations, I went through the proper route for deals and that is cancellations/turnarounds I had to do some pretty intense listening and had to talking about the benefits of Sky against Virgin/NTL, talk talk, orange. (I was after a good deal on Sky +) in the end I said that I will have to reduce my package down to the basic, and review my options, but indicated that I would probably go with Virgin/NTL as they will offer better deals on the phone. I was then offered a new Sky box with free fitting for £49. So I said thank you and they are coming on Tuesday to fit it!

Was there any mention of the extra £10 per month at all?

Yes the normal restrictions apply, you have to either subscribe to premium channels (2 I think) or pay the £10. At the moment the sky + for free is a myth.I am on the full package but will drop down to a £37 package which is the cheapest you can get sky+ for. I have taking there Broadband deal as well (Hope I am not going to be the one with problems, I have read of many who have). So my total bill for the full package + Broadband + free evening and weekend calls is £48.50,there is still a £11 line rental to BT which brings it up to £59.50. I know it seems a lot but having your broadband (as long as it works) for a £5 when I used to pay £22.00, makes it all seem a lot cheaper.

Would virgin give me a better deal as my sky contract is finishing soon? Or ould i have to settle for the 3 for 30 etc deals? No harm in ringing i guess.
  • I phoned Virgin/Telewest on Thursday to see if i could have a discount and i was offered

    Phone: Talk 400
    TV: XL & V+ & Standard Box
    Internet: 2Meg

    for £62 a month

I phoned back yesterday to ask if I could increase the internet speed to 4meg (was willing to pay) and while on the phone he said he would upgrade the internet and knock another £20 a month off for 12 months!

So all the above for £41 a month! :j Will have to keep an eye on the bill as I think its too good to be true and I may have crossed wires. It may actually be £41 plus £10 for the V+ box and another £5 for the extra box as I have not yet had it installed. But still £56 a month to me is still bloody good value considering i was paying £45 a month for Talk 400, 2 meg internet and free TV package before

I was on half price broadband 2gb, half price family pack tv and free talk24 on my phone for 3 months but suddenly they have put me onto one bill rather than three and are now giving me the discounts only on the phone. I rang them and asked why and was told only 1 offer per bill so I have to pay full price broadband and tv now

Has anyone else had this problem?
    Thanx

Do you actually achieve 8 meg speeds or do you pay for UP TO 8 meg?

I gave my 30days notice to quit yesterday and reduced the package to the £18 mix for the final month.
And as another poster reported, My sky+ is still working :)
  • Is it possible they've removed the £10 fee without telling anyone for fear of us all downgrading our packages?
