:xmastree: Thanks for all these postings which have helped me in reaching decisions about my Sky subscription. Having read previous comments I was prepared to cancel my existing package at £21 and just use the Sky box for free-to-view channels. I rang 08705 488485. The guy who answered was very helpful. Asked me which channels I regularly watched and suggested I consider moving to the Knowledge Mix at £15 and immediately offered me 1/2 price on my existing package for 3 months to give me time to reach a decision. It was Friday lunchtime when I rang and I have accepted the 1/2 price offer.0

I'm newly separated and my husband has Sky in his name. I've got the Sky+ on the old package - everything except Sport, costing £35. I want to keep Sky+. Would it be cheaper to transfer the account into my name or for me to join as a new subscriber? Hope someone can help? Thanks0

It would be easier for you to transfer to your name as you will not have to take out new 12 month contract. Your ex will have to close the account ( he must do this) and then you can take out in your name. No loss of viewing.
If you go for new contract you will have to wait until they can install (could be a long wait after Christmas) you are in new 12 month contract but you will get deal for new sky+ £49 and cheaper viewing for short time.
Hope things work out for you. Hard time of year for a split.0 -

Thanks - that makes sense - I'll probably just transfer then. At least we're still talking and he's willing to transfer the contract. One less hassle to deal with.0 -
has anyone had success when trying to cancel via email?
i've tried a few times and never had any joy??? they seem more than happy to cancel for me!!!!
i've don't think i've said (or not said) anything different to what i would over the phone, saying that money's tight for the next few months so can't really afford it...etc. blah blah blah!!!!
anyone know why the email approach doesn't work? does it not go through to the customer retention dept???0 -
if I cancelled my package (sky sports) what would happen to the premplus subscription I purchased in August?
Thanks0 -

There is no "rentention" dept for email cancellations. They cannot conduct a conversation to persuade you to stay. You do need to call to cancel and the Turnaround department are there (and given bonuses) to get you to stay, by offering you whatever deal they currently have to persuade you.
Gambler
If you cancel your sports package but kept some form of subscrption ( family pack etc) going on the sky , then you would still get your PremPlus viewing. If you cancel altogether, you would lose you viewing of PremPlus and it would be very difficult to get it reinstated.

Hi
Im new to this wonderful site and would like advice on modifying my Sky TV subscription. At present, I'm on their Sky World package with Sky Plus thrown in for free. I use Sky+ all the time and think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.
I would like to keep the Movie Channels and possibly offload the Sports Channels and some of the lesser used ones. I understand that if I go to a lesser package I would have to pay an extra £10 a month for Sky+. Can anyone recommend a package that would suit me?0 -
Hi
I'm fed up paying for sky, price rises every year for 5 years ! And in April when my 12 months contract is up on sky + I'm going to cancel my subscription.
I want freesat, will I have to buy the £20 card ? Or will my old card work ? Also if I want to use sky+ to record ect will I have to pay £10 a month ??
Many Thanks

I think if you keep at least one premium channel i.e. Movies the sky+ should still be free0
