    Not really an amazing deal.
Slight understatement lol - a first gen i3 refurb? It's about a hundred quid overpriced!

If anybody's looking for a laptop and wants a 3 year warranty BHS direct charges 10% of laptop price to provide the extra 2 years.
In complete contrast, you have to pay more than 10% just to get a 12 month warranty if it's a refurb < £250.
That makes this 12" chromebook £208 but I've no idea if it's good value as they do not state HDD size, RAM or processor speed. Amongst the sparse description (complete with American spelling), however, they do provide you with this gem.....
The anti-reflective 12.1" LED display has a mirror effect

It fits in with the category of the thread. Still with a years warranty.

But we do try to post the best bargains of the day.
  • I am looking for a laptop so I dont have to sit at my computer in a cold room anymore. So many different ones and I dont understand a lot of it but need it for surfing the web, shopping, photo storage and documents. Not playing games or football manager or anything too exciting! Would like lightweight too
I have seen both of these - are they too much for what I want - does it matter! I can spend up to £400.
Please cast your expert eyes over them and any suggestions gratefully received

    Samsung NP350V5C 15.6 £399

    or Toshiba Satelite Pro £399

Honest answer, they probably are slightly more than you need but they are 3rd gen i processors so should have better battery life than earlier i processors if that is important. If a webcam is important the Tosh may be a better choice as it has a 1mp webcam as opposed to the frankly quite hopeless 0.3mp cam of the Samsung. The Tosh also has a faster hard drive which will make moving large files a little faster and give a slightly more snappy feel to program launching.

The Samsung has a little more RAM but that is the one thing you can easily and cheaply upgrade yourself if need be, so on balance I'd choose the Tosh (and perhaps spend 30 quid on upgrading to 8Mb RAM further down the line)

I know the thread is sub £350 but do you have any recomendations for a laptop or netbook for £200 or less - I am thinking to get one for the children to do the homework and research etc that school is asking for, quite happy to get a refurbished one as long as I can get a warranty. It would then keep them off my nice laptop!
They dont do grown up gaming, but do play moshi monsters which is always really slow on any older laptop, so if I can get something that is quite speedy on the internet that would be good.
Many thanks in advance if anyone has any tips.

    Netbook: HP mini 110-4111ea £153.98

Laptop: Toshiba Satellite C660 £199.99 Though you'll need to spend another £8 on RAM to bring it up to speed. Another £20 again will get a you a better machine.
