Sub-£350 powerful laptops discussion

I know the thread is sub £350 but do you have any recomendations for a laptop or netbook for £200 or less - I am thinking to get one for the children to do the homework and research etc that school is asking for, quite happy to get a refurbished one as long as I can get a warranty. It would then keep them off my nice laptop!
They dont do grown up gaming, but do play moshi monsters which is always really slow on any older laptop, so if I can get something that is quite speedy on the internet that would be good.
Many thanks in advance if anyone has any tips.
If you could spend a little more: This Toshiba Satellite C850-101 for £228.98 is an updated version more suited to the children.
This Toshiba Satellite C660-2EL is older, but has a faster processor and more RAM, for £229.99.0 -
Thank you, I could never have worked out which one to get! We will get the one with the better processer.0

If anyone can find better than this
post it.

Hi All
I am browsing for a new laptop as I believe our home pc is on its last legs.
It will be used for myself and hubby for browsing the net, occasional iplayer, youtube etc and myself for college work so I will need to purchase microsoft office.
I've spotted this on the Sainsburys website so wondered is this a good price and spec at £329.99?

or this one at £299.99 (I dont believe for one minute this has ever cost £499.99!)
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5087585/Trail/searchtext%3ETOSHIBA+C660+WITH+NORTON.htm
Or even any exceptional offer that anyone has spotted and can recommend below £329?
Thanks in advance for any help or advice offered.0 -

Both have got poor processors.
The best available currently is the one posted #2735 but you`ll have to fork out an extra tenner because it`s £339.
This is the exceptional offer you`re looking for because if you go to Dells site it`s actually £399.0 -

So many different ones and I dont understand a lot of it but need it for surfing the web, shopping, photo storage and documents. Not playing games or football manager or anything too exciting! Would like lightweight too
I have seen both of these - are they too much for what I want - does it matter! I can spend up to £400.
Please cast your expert eyes over them and any suggestions gratefully received
Samsung NP350V5C 15.6 £399

Would I be better off with the Dell one FOR £339 http://direct.asda.com/Dell-N5050-15.6ins-Laptop---Intel-Core-i3---500GB-Hard-Drive/000545853,default,pd.html?cm_vc=PPCXSLTP0 -
I need to buy a new laptop but am completely clueless. I want it for the internet, a bit of Office stuff and downloading films.
I've got about £400 to spend, at the very most. I've looked at the last few posts and the Dell N5050 in Asda seems like a good deal. Would you say this is the best one for my needs on my budget? Will it run relatively quickly?
Thanks in advance...0 -

The Dell would do you just fine.
Have a look at it on their site.

The reason they want £399 is there is £20 postage and it`s loaded with McAfee anti virus for 15 months.
The one from Asda has only a months free trial of McAfee but there`s stacks of free anti virus to download notably Windows Essentials Security.0 -
I've just gone for this one - FUJITSU LIFEBOOK AH 531 - £329 from Comet.
Slightly slower processor than the Dell but more RAM and Bluetooth.
I found it slightly cheaper online but I'm not sure that included delivery.
2.5% cashback on TCB + Comet have a 5% off code at the moment so it cost me just a little over £300 - plus I could pick it up on my home from work.0
