Hi, ive just started uni and my netbook has died. Im looking for a new laptop for uni work, watching movies and just general using the internet. Id like it to be quite fast as my last one was so slow. Please can anyone advise of a good value machine? Also are laptops much better than note books? thanks0

notebooks and laptops are the same thing, anyways since you have just started uni i am guessing money to be a bit tight so something like this should be ideal http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOSHIBA-C660-GV-V1-LAPTOP-500GB-15-6-INCH-INTEL-CELERON-4GB-RAM-REFURB-/360485561766?pt=UK_Computing_Laptops_EH&hash=item53ee9d25a6 ok so it wont set the world alight with its speed and power, but for normal usage it will be more than good enoughDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -

There is also this Toshiba Satellite Pro C850-10U. Spend £15 for a 4GB RAM module to it up to 6GB RAM for £265 in total.
If you trade in your old laptop, you can get £50 back. Look here
Do you still have your old laptop?0 -

Oops sorry i meant netbook not notebook! I still have my notebook but the connector where you put the plug in has come out and ive been quoted minimum £80 to fix so thought its probably best to upgrade now.0 -
