Hi Smudger,
I have no idea about refurbs so I cant comment.
I still think this is the best value i5 I have seen...

If you wait a week I can give you a hands on review of the Acer 5749 which I am waiting delivery off... its an i3 though at £330.
I couldnt go with the samsung as the initial outlay is £449
There are loads of laptops in your price point - if you are happu with refurbs then even more.
Sorry forgot to mention - a 3 month warranty is not very good if you are paying £350 - the argos ones all have 12 months.
Bought the same ACER from Argos Outlet when it was £250.
It's good enough.0 -

Good - it does look to be a nice piece of kit - did you get the Web Root Security included - dont know whether to keep it or stick with the old faithful Avg.0 -

Think it was McAfee, which I removed instantly and installed KIS2012 for which I had a few spare licences.
Was for a friend, so I've already handed it over.
Not sure that I would use AVG in any case.0 -

I have never had a problem with Avg or Zonealarm - and always remove Norton and McAfee too - checked a few reviews on Webroot but always prefer actual users views.
Anyway there are other threads for this matter.
Thanks for the Acer warranty link by the way - I believe you posted it earlier - although its delaying the purchase of an ssd for my desktop by another couple of weeks.0 -

Not really remarkable for the price.0 -
This Samsung for £253.98 should have a second gen i3.
You can order it to take a look. If no good, return it for a full refund.
Last one, so perhaps order first and ask questions later.0 -
