Think I have narrowed my search down to this one for my son who wants to use ut for gaming etc, can anyone spot anything obviously wrong with this as its about as much as his budget allows?
Also any recommendations on where to get word, excel, powerpoint from?
Bit of a novice to all this - many thanks for looking.0 -

As for Office, if your son is a student you can get reduced price MS Office suites here: http://www.software4students.co.uk/
Or you can look at one of the freeware office suites such as Libre Office: http://www.libreoffice.org/0 -
Thanks for your reply. He would be looking at playing via the internet. I have just looked at one of the games that he plays and currently its using 42mb. Do you think that one would be suitable then?0

after seeing this and googling around I found this http://www.bhsdirect.co.uk/BH_Toshiba_Notebook_10060850/version.asp
add another £11 for 2 Gb of ram
Pretty good I thought. Yes I know it has no hdmi connection. But this is for a 14yr daughter who doesnt know what a hdmi connector even is.
I went ahead and purchased this. (thru quido for a bit of cash back).
It arrived Friday and I have to say I am very impressed with it.
I previously purchased a DELL insiprion 15r 14 months ago (i3 processor also).
The difference in performance between this tosh and the dell (according to the win7 benchmarks) is nothing to split hairs over.
Considering the cost of a i3 Dell this Tosh is good value for money.
I have ordered an additional 2Gb of ram - this should arrive mid week.
Total cost (with quidco) £315 for a i3 2.2Ghz cpu 320Gb Hd and 4Gb Ram.
1 plus point for Tosh is that the 2Gb fitted is a 1 x 2Gb so a slot is still free for the additional 2Gb of ram. I really thought it would be 2 x 1Gb. so would have to ebay that and purchase 2 x 2Gb.
1 minus point for the Tosh is that the 320Gb drive is split 2 x 160Gb. Why ????0 -
