You made a good choice in the Asus and sticking with that brand as they are generally one of the more reliable ones, I recommend that for another £30 you could get this one:

It's probably a higher spec than you need but that's no bad thing if you're going to keep it for 3 or more years. It's a 2nd generation Intel Core i5 processor, 4GB RAM and a dedicated graphics card which the kids will appreciate if they play games.

If you can't stretch the extra £30 go for a similar spec'd Core i3 version but you'll only get on board graphics - ok for most things.

As to the retailer I linked to - my only connection is that I have purchased my last 2 laptops, both Asus's from them and have been very impressed with the speed and efficiency of their service.

I notice that one only has 4gb RAM though, the kids don`t play games on the laptop, they have other gaming machines so it`s just for me playing games on Facebook. In that case would the ones I mentioned with 8gb RAM be ok for me ? Sorry if I sould daft, but I don`t want to have to keep deleting things, especially photos off the laptop to free up memory all the time. I sell on ebay so like to keep regular item photos at hand.

They've loaded it up with RAM memory because the processor is it's weakest link - you'd be much better going for an Intel Core i3/i5.

Much better value would be this one:

Should have added that 4GB RAM would be plenty for your needs, the above has 6GB.

Are there any more good processors that would suit our budget and needs besides the i3 or i5 ?

The i3 and i5 intels are hard to beat on a bang for buck basis.

The links I gave you are for 2nd generation Core i3 and Core i5 which benchmark score (the higher the better) at 2738 and 3457 respectively. The one your were looking at has an AMD A4-3300M cpu which benchmarks at 1662. You might also see other AMD cpus like the E450 benchmark score at 747.

If you want to make a comparison yourself between processors of laptops you like the look of, you can at this site:

    http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php

Remember though the HIGHER the score the better.
