A friend has sent me links to the following laptops for my opinion.
I wondered what you guys thought and maybe if you had better options?
Thanks.

tbh i dont know if a laptop would really need a 750gig hd.
if i was storing that amount of data i would kepp it on an ext hd.
well thats what i was going to tell him.
i take it there isnt much difference in build quality betqween acer and lenovo?0 -

Personally, I'm not a big fan of Acer. I find their plastics a bit tacky. If it was me I would get the Lenovo as I won't be using USB 3 anytime soon.
Best thing is always to pop into pcworld/comet/currys to have a hands on look to see if you like it, you don't have to buy from them.
Many a time I have seen something online that looks good but when I have had a hands on look in retailer I've hated it.
There is also the Asus I have listed in a above post that is going for under £400 which has a i5 processor. For general use you dont need 6GB and I have never used 750GB in data.0 -
Many thanks for all the advice - especially about the rubbish Curry's voucher. It's looking like the Asus with the i5 processor will be the one. Shame about the discount code. Will use quidco tho.
Can't wait to get my PC to myself again!!0 -
Hi All.
Looking for advise on a Laptop for some light business use.
This is going to be used by my parents for some day to day running of a small corner shop. A decent size keyboard and screen would be good. Company is not VAT registered so cant claim anything back.
Will be used for Emails, Order tracking via an online webshop, Updating of a website, Excel, Word, Web browsing, Sage accounts package etc.
Looking to spend around £300-£350 ish.
I gather the Fujitsu AH531 Intel Core i3 Sandybridge 2310 2.1GHz would have been a good choice on the Dabs Outlet offer at £329, but i can only now find this on ebuyer at £379.
Is this worth the money still at £379 ?? (its now a bit above our budget), or is there another choice i should be considering? (im hoping by some magic Dabs get more stock, but i cant see that happening).
Advise would be welcome.
Thanks.0 -

A heads up....
Went to Comet to look at the Asus today and called in Best Buy in passing. They're closing down and offering 25% off all laptops and pretty much everything else I think. We looked at an HP Pavilion 17" laptop for £404, so £353 with discount for example (i3 Sandybridge but didn't know which, 3GB Memory & 320GB HD). We didn't see anything my daughter preferred to the Asus but looked to be some good buys... and we got a decent hoover for <£50
Staff told me it was nationwide and online but I haven't checked it out.
