I've been looking for a laptop for my 14yo daughter for school work, facebook etc and some gaming. I thought the Fujitsu everyone was fancying on here would be about right but she didn't like the look of it :undecided. This Asus looks promising and I also found this and thought it looked a good deal - am I right?

Which, if either would be best. The packard bell comes with a £50 curry's voucher which, although not as good as cash, I'm sure I could use.
Also, I'm not in a desperate hurry (mainly want to get her off my pc!) so is it likely prices will drop after Christmas?
Haven't bought a new PC for years and last time I wasn't this skint so it didn't matter as much!!
Any advice appreciated - sorry I had to take the www of the urls. I'm a new user and not allowed to post links
Many thanks0 -

I would take the Asus over the Packard Bell any day(not a fan of Packard bell personally).
Asus are a very good make, they make components for Sony and Apple to name drop a few. The Asus is also more aesthetically pleasing to look at, which most likely will be the most important factor to your daughter, going from my experience with my nephews and nieces.
Read the T&C's of the Currys vouchers. I think you have to spend over £200 to redeem it on a given date sometime in Feb or something like that. So it is not as good as it looks.
In regards to price, this is a very good price for an i5 from a reputable make.0 -

I know Millionaire has already said this, but really the £50 voucher is terrible.
Must be used in a 2 week window, on purchases where you've spent £200+ and not managed to haggle down a price. For most bits and bobs like that (unless you want a second laptop) you can often find it cheaper online.0 -
Hello it's me again!
Following on from earlier postings I had a look at the fujitsu that I missed last week. Dabs are selling this one for under £300 same model but with a different processor (which has a higher benchmark result). Does it look a good deal or should I be looking at other things to compare?
Many thanks again

The Dabs outlet one last week (£330) was this one

Benchmark 2623
This one has a benchmark of 1998 so is not far behind (although I know nothing about the B950 processor.) In comparison the 1st gen i3-380M benchmark is 2311.
Conclusion? They're all about the same performance. BUY IT NOW. THERE ARE ONLY 24 LEFT.

Talking benchmarks if somebody wants more grunt for their pound, this Asus has a benchmark of 3480 (50% better -at least! - than those above) and costs about £360 (after vouchers)
