  • Would any of the laptops that hethmar mentioned play fifa12, latest gta, tony hawks etc?

I'm looking at the same deals. For what its worth hethmar, you could go cheaper as your not really demanding anything from it. Browsing and word processing isn't something you need a lot of umphhh for.

Yes, I know Mark but as I say if its only a bit more, then you feel you should go for the higher spec, or you are missing out :)

The really important thing to me is not having to faff a lot once I have it. I was thinking of a Dell 15R but the reviews arent good.

I thought samsung and fujitsu may be more reliable?

Can you help me decide please - between this

    and

    this

    http://www.sainsburys.co.uk/sol/shop/technology/computing_and_gaming/laptops_and_netbooks/121536207_samsung_nprv511a07uk_intel_core_i3_processor_3gb_320gb_156_silver_and_black_notebook.html?hnav=4294935766

    and this

    http://www.thehut.com/computing/laptops/fujitsu-lifebook-ah530-laptop/10559026.html

I dont do gaming or dowloading of films - basically I want a laptop that is reliable, easy to use - Id like to net work to my desktop - and fast for (silver)surfing/word processing and my hobbies. However, for £25 or £50 more I may as well get a higher spec model for the speed?

The Samsung is not very exciting.
The cheaper Fujitsu is good if you don't wish to spend much and it's only £10 to upgrade to 4GB RAM.
Not sure why they make their Service Packs so difficult to locate. In Germany it is less than 40 euros for the 3 year extended warranty.

Perhaps you can call Fujitsu in order to glean the servicepack ID:, SKU: or EAN numbers, you can do a search for the cheapest.

    An example is this one
Though you should check with them to ensure that it covers the model that you intend to purchase.

Just picked up the cheapest Inspiron Dell have at the moment and must admit it's a good little unit for the money.

Paid £275ish delivered and was choosing between this or the Fujitsu AH530 currently selling for similar money on zavvi (and a couple of other places). I would say these are the best (new) basic laptops available for under about £360 at the minute.

What swayed me towards the dell was the fact that it's got one of the new generation Sandybridge celerons - nearly bottom of the pile admittedly but should be more than up to the P6200 that comes with the Fujitsu, both will be easily upgradeable should either the hard drive or memory prove a bit spartan for your needs (unlikely if you're buying a sub-£300 laptop)

*edit* - I forgot I seen this at the weekend in store, looks a very good deal, if a little mis-matched (good processor, particularly average everywhere else)

Im attracted to a samsung because I am a touch typist and I find laptops incredibly hard to use. The samsung has a keyboard more like a "normal" desktop one.

Hi, I am looking for a laptop for my son that has good graphics. My son wants it for gaming etc, so it needs a built in webcam etc, and good video capacity etc as well as school work and "proper" stuff. I dont know enough to even know where to start.:(
I saw above a link that was given for this one:
    http://www.ebuyer.com/285944-fujitsu...y-ah531mrsc2gb
Is that good enough for him?? It will actually be bought in the USA so specs will be helpful if not a specific laptop.
    Thanks in advance,
    :D
