That covers just about any laptop doesn't it? You say 13.3" screen or nearest - nearest in which direction, are you wanting smaller or bigger?
Thanks - Ideally I want a 13.3" with a DVD drive etc but as it seems impossible to find one on that budget, I would be interested in sizes up to 14-15" if possible.

We will be buying the office home and student from ww.software4students.co.uk as he needs to make powerpoints. Can you advise on which laptop overall would be better value please? Any advice will be greatly appreciated! :-)"0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0

All I want is the cheapest 14 or 15" + laptop. Its only real use is surfing plus a little word and excel - or wahtever openoffice call it.
I bought a HP Compaq CQ60 last year which i am happy with. With a voucher and buying through quidco i got it for £240. Don't want to spend more than £250 and don't want a netbook/mini laptop.
Can't find anything that cheap this year.

Hello
I am looking for a laptop that will be mainly used for just surfing the net and a little use of office packages
I already have a 500gb external hard drive so a big hard drive is not essential.
I think I have wittled it down to these 4 (from HUKD links), butbeforeI goahead I would appreciate any thoughts on perhaps which one is most suitable.... or even if there is something out there much cheaper - as these seem great but I may be paying for things I dont need

Although I think this Dell at £399 delivered is better than any of those you have posted - it has a newer more powerful Core i3 processor, and more than enough RAM and hard drive capacity.poppy100 -
thanks a lot - i will look into it
what is the battery life like do you know ? - thinking about it I guess that is one important criteria for the laptop - i think one of my initial 4 had a battery life of 9 hours !!!0 -

EDIT: Having looked again it seems it's just the Inspiron they don't allow customisation of for some reason :huh:0
