Hello. I am looking for a laptop that will be mainly used for just surfing the net and a little use of office packages
I already have a 500gb external hard drive so a big hard drive is not essential. I think I have wittled it down to these 4 (from HUKD links), butbeforeI goahead I would appreciate any thoughts on perhaps which one is most suitable.... or even if there is something out there much cheaper - as these seem great but I may be paying for things I dont need
http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.207-9492.aspx thansk a lot
I have purchased this Acer from Tesco and it is a great little machine. I notice that your link shows the price as £379.00. But the text says it is £319 (correct price). The processor is absolutely fine for web browsing emailing and office applications."0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0 -
Just ordered this laptop for my daughter's 21st:

Cheapest price I found, with 3% cashback via Quidco.
She'll have it next weekend. Seems a decent spec and price to me.0 -

Little bit of advice on buying a first laptop please.
I currently have 2 desktop pc's which i will get rid of and a PS3 - should free up about £400 (with a bit from myself). I'll be using the laptop for Internet browsing (a lot) and a little word, excel, an playing a bit of football manager online.
I have a 1TB external hard drive already so could get away with a lesser memory but would like it to be super fast. I'm not sure on monitor size????
Could you throw some idea's or links at me please?
Much appreciated

Either of the first two should be fine. The third and fourth ones have weaker processors but are around the same price, so I'd avoid them.
Although I think this Dell at £399 delivered is better than any of those you have posted - it has a newer more powerful Core i3 processor, and more than enough RAM and hard drive capacity.
hi
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THIS ONE AND THIS OTHER ONE I HAVE FOUND ON DELL WEBSITE???

I'm looking for a laptop to use with my screen & keyboard and also as a traditional laptop.
Not being v technical I get confused v quickly so help would be appreciated.
I want one that is fast & won't fall over every time I have a couple of spreadsheets & websites open. Don't download programes etc at the mo, but think I will start to (though not interested in keeping once seen) & also use iplayer etc. a lot, so want a decent machine that will be ok with this.
Current machine has only 512 RAM, which was quite big at the time, have been recommended to get a 4MB this time round, & at least 320 hard drive - I will be keeping this a good while so would prefer it over spec'd in case something revolutionary appears in next few years.
I had found THIS SAMSUNG but gather Samsung not well thought of? Have also been looking at Dells but they don't seem highly thought of either? Was looking at them on outlet - but they are so much cheaper I may as well go for 17" (wouldn't use outside home so weight not an issue). In which case there is a refurb Inspiron 1750, Pentium Dual Core 2100, Windows 7, 64 bit, 320 hard drive, 4MB RAM for £352.
Any thoughts on this please? Also, re the scratch & dent - not bothered about casing but could the scratches be on the screen? If not, there is similar spec but 6MB RAM for £391.
Finally, only some models have a video card mentioned - am assuming these are upgraded cards & if none mentioned it would be standard?
Many thanks.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0
