The outlet web site page isn't loading properly for me today, but if they mention Grades, they should blimmin' tell you what they mean! I was very nervous about buying - I'm very anal and didn't want a scratch on me new PC
, but I was and still am delighted with my purchase.
Found this:
Scratch and Dent products are systems with considerable cosmetic blemishes that do not affect performance. They are a great way to save money while still enjoying Dell Outlet's rigorous rebuilding and testing process. Scratch and Dent computers will not have scratches or pits on the screen, missing or illegible letters on the keyboard, or damage to the touchpad or palmrest.
Currently trying to decide whether I am more anal or more tight - think tight will win the day
Edit: got a Dell 17" Inspiron , decent dual processor, 4gb memory, 320HD for £377 inc. VAT & free delivery in basket, Grade 1 scratches. Then chickened outA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

No way! What is it you're afraid of gallygirl? That really was the one that got away! Awww bless you - I do understand, really. I did this too for ages before taking the plunge.
My Grade 1 DELL has more scratches on it now than I even care about. One of the benefits of getting a PC with a wee scratch on it was that I was much less precious with it. I treated it with respect, but didn't worry about it getting scratched and that helped me ...anally! They completely examine and fix them before they send them out - the problems should only be the scratch. Most of them are just computers that have been returned by fussy people, or they're the wrong spec or they chickened out! some have been taken out of boxes and accidentally scratched and so on.....
I'm sending the PC Godesses to you to give you that last wee push......:A0 -

 Damn you treepotato
Was still available (but at £375!).
Have bought it _pale_
Will be all your fault
PS It's pale blue. Could have had same with black, or cherry red with slightly slower processor. Wanted red but did the manly thing (if it had been plum that would have been a different story :rotfl:)A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

I recently purchased my Samsung R530 and its been a good all-rounder so far, no problems, the graphics power has really suprised me considering the price. Cost me £399 off the high street.

Have been looking at Emachines E627 laptop on Asda site @ £297 - reviews seem ok too.
Any comments appreciated.

Something like this refurbished (but with 12 month guarantee) model would probably be better for you. Or consider Windows Vista instead of Windows 7 and get a much larger choice. Argos Clearance Bargains offer 12 month guarantees on their laptops, and you get the usual buyer protection when you pay with PayPal.
Don't go for the cheapest option when buying a laptop, £100 or even £50 more will put you in a much better position. The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

I've found this on BT Business Direct and am thinking about buying one for my mum. Only downside is no graphics card but as it 's for my mum I don't think it will matter, I mean she won't be doing any gaming! I know a lot of people have issues with Dell but my laptop has bine excellent. Only problem I had was with the sales people. Just trying to understand them was bad enough! If I was rich I wouldn't care about money. Think I should be rich because I don't care about money now! :beer:0 -
