    thats ok, good price

but i would go for one of these

ok so you take a bit of a hit on the processor(intel is preferable to amd even though the amd is clocked slightly higher) but you get improvements everywhere else for not a lot more, the second option just has a 90gb larger hard drive to the first, worth an extra tenner imho.

on an unrelated note, my <£400 decent laptop is this

Thank you, as you say those are even better value. There is a premium to pay if you want an Intel processor. I use my laptop mainly for surfing and for intraday trading stocks using live charting software so I'm not sure whether I would notice the difference.

Laptops Direct appear to be the cheapest place, I would never have found them as they don't appear on the shopbot searches so thanks again. Will probably go with one of these. Do they have a line out for connecting speakers?

This one also looks a bargain at £399 inc VAT, includes bluetooth compatibility and comes with 4GB of RAM http://www.ebuyer.com/product/164845/show_product_video/playvid#

    Decisions, decisions... hmmm.

This article needs updating. I'm not sure about the others but the HP laptop at the bottom is no longer stocked by ebuyer.

  • hi all,

im gonna be looking to get my missus a laptop for xmas as she is going back to uni to do her masters for two years in february. she will need a laptop that can handle multimedia, as well as web surfing, spreadsheets, office stuff etc with a good bit of ram and hard disk space. hopefully MSE will update the deals in time for xmas but does anyone know how late i could leave it in order to get one for xmas wthout getting penalised on price, as im sure most companies will jack up the price?

Ideally i would like to get it a month or so before she starts to ge tthe best deal but she would like summut to open on xmas day. also, its got to be sub £500 as im gonna be skint for two years what with paying her half of the mortgage and bills etc!

if anyone knows of a good one then please dont be shy too. im always on the lookout for a bargain!

    cheers everyone

    Adrian
