A while back I used Vectonemobile.
I was attracted by their 'free calls to India' offer. They sent me a SIM and I was able to make free calls as they as promised.
After that offer ran out, I joined their PAYG service. Did not experience any problems.
I stopped after 3 months. But that was only because I found cheaper alternatives.

If it is PAYG it is fine as there is nothing as they could do as the customer is in full control. Just be aware the price for minute could difference to what they have stated.

There is no way they could take unauthorise money from your credit card/debit card, bank account.

If it is a contact, then the thing will entirely different. They will employ Recurring Payment, which is notoriously known extremely difficult to reverse without a huge fight ...

Also it might happen they block your mobile account so you will not be able to make a phone call but still take payment the following month.

Read the experience from other people from the link that I have provided.

came across this comparison site for PAYG services
    http://mobilenetworkcomparison.co.uk/compare

iCardmobile looks like the cheapest right now for calling UK numbers.
3p to UK Landlines and 6p to UK Mobiles.

No 'special offers' or 'deals' like many others but still works out cheaper.

For some strange reason, it costs only 1p Landline or Mobile to far away places like to India and China !!!!!

Is it reliable? Has anyone tried it?
  • I have used them for about a year now with no usage problems but I am a very low user (iCard Mobile runs on the the Vodafone network) but they don't offer MMS or Video messages.

Call rates UK as at 12 Feb 2012 from site http://icardmobile.co.uk/rates.php

    Landline 3 pence per minute
    SMS 5 pence per message
Other Mobiles 6 pence per minute
iCard Mobile to iCard Mobile 0 pence per minute
Data is charged at 10p per MB - charging is pro rata per 27kb

ovivo must surely be the cheapest if you use less than 200 minutes, 200 sms and 500mb per month.

    VIRGIN ORIGINAL PAYG TARIFF.

I still have my original Virgin PAYG sim card which I got in early 2000. Originally it was 15p a min for the first 5 mins to Virgin mobiles & landlines, then 5p for the rest of the day, but a whopping 30p a min to other networks. Currently [July 2012], it's 21p a min for the first 5 mins each day to Virgin mobiles & landlines, but then FREE to other Virgin mobiles for the rest of the day, 6p to landlines, 41p per min to other networks.

TALKMOBILE PAYG TARIFF [Available from carphonewarehouse]

8p per min to all networks and landlines, 4p per text to all networks, 1/2 those prices [4p/2p] to other Talkmobile fones.

TALKMOBILE PAY MONTHLY £1 CONTRACT [Autumn 2011 - might be repeated?] 25 mins & 50 texts for £1 rolling monthly contract! :rotfl:
