I notice mention of Now Mobile in this thread. Does anyone know which network they operate on please? I can't find any mention of it on their website.

    Its an Orange Virtual Network.

My wife and I have an icard sim. Poor instructions on how to start making calls. Poor customer service .

You can't just ring 263 and top up you have to call from a landline first and activate the sim by talking to customer service. They give you a password that lets you login to your account and it also activates the sim. Least that's how I think it went. Also depends who you you talk to.

The main problem for me has been the chap I spoke, (foreign call centre by the way), who didn't know about porting the number.

I gave the details and now my old sim is now inactive (asda), as of yesterday and my icard sim doesn't work so I now have no mobile. The icard sim displays their network on my phone but if I try and call I get the de de dah tone repeating.

Called again (spoke to the woman think there's only 2 people there), and they say it will be done in 4 days and they will ring me. They don't know what has happened or why when I eventually got them to understand my point.

I emailed the details to them from their site last night - no reply so far.

I think someone from icard posted here - perhaps they can shed some light.

I think I'm now in limbo. I will have to wait for it to get sorted before I can switch and port my number if I decide to go to another network. Right now giff gaff looks attractive...

Poor Customer Service on there part a Port should now only take one day. http://media.ofcom.org.uk/2011/04/11/one-day-mobile-number-transfers-comes-into-effect/

    One to be avoided imho.

I have an Orange San Francisco which is unlocked and currently on Giff Gaff. There is a problem using MMS because the O2 network that Giff Gaff runs on doesn't recognise the San Francisco. I'm ready to change networks but don't want the same problem again.
NOW Mobile uses the Orange network so presumably I would be OK with that, but 8p per text is a bit much. Talkmobile prices are OK but they use Vodaphone. Would anyone know if my phone would be able to use MMS on the Vodaphone network?

Dozens of people here are using OSF with different sims, including giffgaff, without any problems. If you cannot solve the problem with o2/giffgaff, you cannot be sure that you will make it working on other network regardless of anyone's experience.

The giff gaff forums are full of OSF users who have the same problem as me. I would be glad to hear from any of the dozens of MSE users who could offer some help.

OK, I stand corrected and I don't have any personal experience with OSF. My apologies.

I know there are a lot of people using Giffgaff on OSF. I don't know of anyone using 02 on OSF. If anyone is please post the settings. I've been trying for weeks to get an internet connection. I've tried 6 lots of settings from different sites without success.
    Thanks

So I came back from a walk today and tried my icard sim and it worked. Hurrah, so under 48 hours from the second time of asking for the port. I think the woman is better at understanding than the chap who originally took my instructions for the port even though something happened from asking him (except neither sim cards worked - see earlier posts).

Nobody rang though like they said they would as I had no missed calls.

I would hope they will get better as they get more experience.

There are working settings for O2 at Modaco, on this page of the thread (post #60):

  • the cheapest pay as you go offer I have found is Giffgaff.com

they use the o2 network so if you have an o2 phone you dont have to get it unlocked.
you can buy goodybags or just top up as needed. I am using them because my phone is locked to o2 but they are to expensive and I get free internet with giffgaff. and I don't have to be locked in to a contract.
