Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Good morning All
I woke up at 3.50 am wide awake and thought I would come down and talk to you lot..,but there doesnt seem to be anyone awake yet.
I think I may have a coffee in a minute ..
see you later

Morning all,
I've just had an afternoon sleep.DGS still asleep so I'm typing very quietly. XDIL had to attend a first aid course today and he was dropped down at 6.30am. I took him shopping this morning & then the library. So after lunch we both were pooped. Only got one egg today.
Will check later. Someone didn't pull their weight today.
I wonder who it was.
Noticed this young Mum shopping today as she caught the same ferry as me and her little boy was about 1 year younger than DGS. She was at the checkouts in front of me. I couldn't help but notice all the rubbish she had in her trolley. Not one bit of fresh fruit & veggies etc. All processed frozen & packaged stuff. It was 3 times the cost of what I had. I felt like standing on my soap box.
Meanmarie Send best wishes to DH for me & a kiss and cuddle of course. Trust Ruby to share.
jess I hope all goes well. Good luck & I'm glad it's you and not me.
I should have read yesterday's thread first before posting. I forget it all now. So <hugs> to those poorly or down. Hope you all have a beautiful day. The weather is gorgeous here atm.Byeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Good morning everyone!
Jess - welcome to you and the best of luck today! Is it your first?
Welcome to Sarah, too!
Well, It's pouring with rain outside - as if we needed it. Somehow, I managed to get the washing dry on the line yesterday but no such luck today, I think. I just think we all need a few days of autumn sunshine where we can sit outside and soak it up to set us up for the winter and the children need to be able to get out into the garden to let off steam before the cold really sets in and they're confined indoors, don't they?
Did anyone else get a warm glow at that lovely story on the news last night of the little three year old who was saved by her Dad after falling into a storm drain? After all the doom and gloom we hear in the news day after day, it brought tears to my eyes. How quick-thinking of the Dad to work out where to look for her in the river. I bet he goes over and over it in his mind thinking of how differently it could have turned out.
Well, today I need to do a bit of shopping and the ironing is now too big a pile to ignore so I shall be busy this morning.
(((Hugs))) to Smoky, PenPin, Jayward, Sammyjig's OH, Essex-girl's Dad and Candygirl's Dad, Beth and her DBs and all who need one.
Churchmouse - :hello: :hello: :hello:
I'm going to put the kettle on again. I've just looked at another thread and someone has worked out that boiling a full kettle in the morning and filling a flask to use for the rest of the day is saving £3 a week:eek: That's a lot of money, isn't it? I'm going to buy a new flask today; we have one that DH uses for work but I don't have a spare so it will be worth the initial outlay to save that sort of money! I only ever fill the kettle with the water we need but DH is awful for filling it right up and letting half of it go to waste! I shall put a post-it next to it to remind him how much it costs per week - that should cure him of the habit!
See you later.

Hi Aussie - I must admit I can't help looking at other people's shopping trolleys in the supermarket and I am always amazed at the number of people who don't even try and save money, especially with things like veg and also cakes and stuff like that. I saw one family with a trolley full of ready-meals - they were letting the children (two little girls) choose which ones they wanted for the different days of the week! They also bought gallons of cheap coke. I don't know how they can afford it let alone want to feed it to their children! I always wish I had the nerve to say something but I daren't!
Send some of your gorgeous weather over here, please, we're all starting to look very pale!

Morning. Seems very wintery in Cornwall today, Rain wind and it's dark. I thought after the lack of summer at least we might have some autumn.
I am keeping an eye on the weather as I have a boat fishing trip booked for Friday and I don't want to have it cancelled.
Work soon and then try and sort out my daughters mobile phone deal. She got a good deal with Orange, but there is no signal in the house, so a waste of time.
Well folks. Cheers and have a nice dayNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Morning  I am tired, but I'm going home for a nap in a minute
I got a reply to my e-mail instantly about the job - he said that he'd really like me to apply and that it's quite a common jump for people with my background to make, so not to worry. Now all I have to do is sort out my CV, write a cover letter and send it all in
Right - see you all this afternoon, when I'm abit more awake! :rotfl: hugs for those that need them, cel x:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -
Morning all :hello: Very pleased to report the SC is on!!
I don't wanna go to work though... :rotfl: Still, it's the only place I go that pays an appearance fee so I will force myself..
Off for a shower and to fling a towel washload on. Have good days all and big hugs for those that need them.
Good luck Jessbrown100!0 -
