    Thankyou all.

I just don't know what to do - do I take kids out of school? do I take them with me to Scotland? Do I go myself?

I'm sure you need to go, if it's at all possible. Whether your children go with you depends on their ages, how practical it is, and to a certain extent whether they want to go to her funeral or not.

Would it be possible for you to go ASAP to support your neice, and someone else fly up later with the children for the actual funeral, if it's right for them to go?

    Thankyou

Well the plans are that me and my daughter will fly up tomorrow morning and my son, (who has exams on Monday) will fly up on his own on Tuesday night.

The funeral is on Wed at midday.

I gave the children a choice and said it was entirely up to them if they wanted to go to the funeral and that I wouldn't be upset if they decided that they didn't want to, for whatever reason.
    Thanks again to everyone.

    Sal
