I sent a £100 payment from my Web Saver yesterday, again said 'cannot be sent as a Faster Payment at this time', went out as a bill payment at midnight last night and was in the destination account at 12:01!!

Will try a larger payment tomorrow

    Sort it out Halifax

Sounds like a slow burn of testing on small amounts to check out anti-fraud measures!

You can only send "immediate" faster payments through a current account. Payments sent via websaver will arrive at the recieveing account by faster payments the next working day. Eases the load I assume.

Doubt its anything to do with workload, because thousands of web saver payments are going to be leaving accounts at exactly the same time each day. More like Halifax computer people being lazy with the finalizing of the process
  • Just sent a fast payment of £220 to my A & L account, it arrived within minutes. Seems payments up to £250 can be sent FP.

I made a payment to Barclaycard on Thursday night and it went through as a faster payment but when I tried to transfer money to my Halifax credit card a message came up to say that the payment wouldnt go through until next Wednesday, missing my due date and leaving me with a late payment charge. Even in previous months the transfer would normally happen next day for me or within 2 days but never that long.

Sent £500 yesterday from Halifax to Tesco via faster payments. £600 wouldn't go via FP so split it.

  • I called the Halifax on Friday and the guy I spoke to said it would all be working properly "within the next 2 weeks"

    Not entirely confident myself mind!!
