My son's standing order to First Direct for around £470 left HBOS on the 16th and arrived in FD on the 16th.

Think the faster payments for money out is working now as well as for money in with the Halifax - I transferred some to another bank ( not a SO, just usual BACS) and it went into other account instantly

System works fine for me, HX > A&L < 60 seconds.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

Hmm yeah it seems to be working, though says that it isn't. I sent a payment from my Halifax savings to Lloyds, said 'faster payments not available at this time', but it went through as a faster payment the next day! Getting there.....

This is the bit that defeats the banks. It's as though someone builds the channel tunnel - coming all the way from France at the far end - and Halifax just has to build a station - but then starts talking about the 'height' of the trains meeting the platform (i.e. that last little bit - and they can't tie it up!) And the Channel tunnel probably took slightly less time in the end than faster payments...
.....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam
