By the end of September, most payments will be sent by the Faster Payments Service.

During September you will be able to make Immediate Faster Payments from your HBOS bank account.
    Has now become

  • well spotted, they're just a bunch of ................................ (fill in the blanks)
  • I got a leaflet in the post a few days ago with updated terms and conditions for my current account.

This leaflet said that the Faster Payments service would be available by the end of September - obviously that was a lie

On the online banking web site it now says "During October you will be able to make Immediate Faster Payments from your HBOS bank account".

That is still not true, as today (Saturday) I tried to pay a bill and I was allowed to choose today's date. However it then told me that it couldn't be sent until Tuesday 7th and I should allow 3 days which means that it wouldn't reach its destination until Friday.

That is almost a whole week - absolutely pathetic!

But I think you need to read it in conjunction with the previous para on their website ? :

Wasn't it the government or the Banking Ombudsman who made them introduce Faster Payments? I think they are just making it look like they have started them so they meet whatever timetable was laid down by Ombudsman. I have not once had a payment accepted for Faster Payments with Halifax on-line and I make lots of payments to all sorts of places so chances are some of them should be have been able to accept Faster Payments.

To be clear, are these £1 test payments?

The reason I ask is that I can send £1...but have tried sending £1.01 and it won't let it go until Tues 14/10/08.

I got all excited when I saw Milarky's post there . However, I've just tried to send a token payment to my A&L account and also my RBS account and both cant be sent by FP.

Usual 'on this occasion we are unable to....blah blah blah...' message.

So Milarky...you're not as exciting as I thought you were. :p :rotfl:
