Halifax faster payments - nearly there?

There is today's date (highlighted in yellow) in the drop down calendar now - implying (since Halifax's own information says this) that faster payments (out) are now enabled. However when I set up a payment to First Direct I was advised it go tomorrow instead via the 'normal bill payment' service.
Are they about to throw the big switch then and make it all go - or is this a lucky dip where some accounts get a pass and others don't I wonder?

Just log in my Halifax account. It allows me to send payment for today's date. But there is no money in my account at the moment. So I can't try it yet.0

I saw this today too. It has me wondering if this is going to be the case constantly, "sorry....cannot be performaed at this time". They obvioulsy do not want this change implemented and are dragging their heels over it, RBS have had this active for some months now I believe.
Having been a customer with BOS for 25 years and also worked for HBOS for a short time, I am getting increasingly annoyed with every aspect of their service, unfortunately all my accounts are there, and the hassle may be more than it's worth to move.0 -
I just came on here to post exactly the same thing!
Here is what is happening for me...
Last week I sent a £1 payment from Halifax to Lloyds; it would only allow me to select the following working day BUT when it did leave Halifax it WAS sent as a faster payment.
NOW I just tried two test £1 payments from Halifax - one to Barclays and one to Lloyds (both accept faster payments). Although it now allows you to select today's date, I am then getting the message:
"You have selected today's date. On this occasion we're unable to send this as an Immediate Faster Payment.
Your payment will be sent on 09/09/2008 using our bill payment service"
At least they seem to be working on it, but not fully there yet :rolleyes:0 -
What a joke.0

Anyone still having problems with halifax fast payment, it wont let me send payment today and next available day is 15/09??0

ho all, i work for halifax. i havent been at work for a week so cant remember the full details but it went something like this:
faster payments would be implemented for payments for £1 to other banks on the 8th
this would be extended to £500 limit on 10th to avoid system crash
A couple of days after this they would fully open the system for all payments.
I will try get the full details soon but the faster payments should be all up and running in the next couple of daysI am a Mortgage Adviser

Thanks for the information, but it looks like the above dates were a bit optimistic.
I just tried sending an immediate faster payment for today's date for £50.20 and I got a similar error message as gemmabe:
"You have selected today's date. On this occasion we're unable to send this as an Immediate Faster Payment.
Your payment will be sent on 15/09/2008 using our bill payment service"
Assuming it takes about 3 days to get to the receiving account through the old style bill payment service, that means that it will have taken almost a week to get there rather than about 2 hours.
Pathetic!
I wish that Halifax would stop dragging their heels with this after all of their hype about faster payments "coming soon".0 -
I tried another payment to someone else.
Although it let me select Friday 12 September I still got the error message:
You have selected today's date. On this occasion we're unable to send this as an Immediate Faster Payment.
Your payment will be sent on 15/09/2008 using our bill payment service.
When are these clowns going to get their act together?
To avoid embarrassment they should remove the option of selecting today's date until they are ready to make use of it.
It would also be nice if they could provide more concise information as to the exact timescale under the link "Watch out for Faster Payments".
The statement "You will be able to make an Immediate Faster Payment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week simply by selecting today's date as the payment date." is obviously not true.
Has anyone successfully been able to pay a real bill using this service?0 -
Same message trying to send money to Tesco Internet Saver.
I was able to send money from my Tesco saver to HBOS today but no joy the other way.0 -
Oh, I'm so glad there are others feeling my pain! (Although obviously I wish none of us were, IYSWIM
)
Crinz, is there any chance you can get hold of any definite further information?
I too have tried a couple of payments (for small amounts) and get the same message as others on here have posted - Halifax is just teasing us by allowing today's date to be selected and then "ah ah, you can't really do that"
Smile bank doesn't seem to have enabled FPs out yet either
