hi QTPIE we have only been with new agent a couple of weeks but we have been on market 18mnths. i asked about open day but was tld it really only works if there is a lot of interest most people want to book a viewing to suit there own time. i was hoping new agent would come up with something from there mailing list but no joy yet.

That is one of the frustrating things about "mailing lists"... When you interview then, EAs always say "we have quite a number of people who are looking for something like ths", then once you sign with them, nothing materialises... Ok, maybe they have sent details out, followed them up, but no-one can be convinced to view... BUT you would think - with "prospective buyers and fantastic levels" (at the moment) that they should be able to provide some interested people off of their list...

Fingers crossed. I definitely think it is a GOOD time to be on the market :)

I'm a bit late joining this as we sold our house yesterday. It was on the market for two months. We had about 8 viewers I think. Fingers firmly crossed...

One thing I have noticed is that, although my house is a two up two down terraced I'm getting a lot of interest from people looking to downsize. This is great in one respect as I thought it would be limited purely to FTB's only however the downside is that the viewers have to sell their house first.

A viewer is a viewer though so I can't possibly turn them down.

It is very quiet without pawpurrs!!!!!!!

After going on the market last Friday our pics still aren't showing on Rightmove. I called in to the EA's office today and they said it was out of their control (something to do with Desrez?).

I told the EA it was really frustrating as I was hoping to have viewers lined up for this weekend.

He said that pics not showing on RM wouldn't stop interested parties. After all, the pics are on their own website and they have mailed out the brochures etc. He said I was being a little unrealistic expecting viewings in the first week as 'these things take time'.

So after 3 weeks of mass clearing up, decorating, grouting tiles and gardening in readiness for going on the market there's not a viewing in sight.

I'm so disappointed after all that hard work.

Have no chance of selling when nobody's coming through the door.

Well we FINALLY exchanged at 2pm today!!!!!!:j, complete tomorrow this has been the most stressful time in my life EVER!. Both EA and solicitor have commented that nearly every sell they have done recently has been nail biting due to lenders taking forever to get the paperwork through in time. Maybe offline for a whilst but will be back good luck to everyone!.

I also am in south west and moving couple of miles from Bath.
Have to go still packing! :D

  • I'm in the Durham area and there is little or no sign of the market picking up here. Our village has over 70 houses for sale and according to right move only 2 have sold lately. Many have been on the market for over a year, there is a good mix of houses and those around with a for sale board all report a distinct lack of viewers. Either the whole area is overpriced or we're just not that desirable.

After 8 weeks on the market I'm beginning to get a bit fed up, but at least I'm getting used to the board and have become more realistic about chances of selling anytime soon.
  • hey geordie did you see on the news that the tourist board are thinking of dropping the 'county' from 'county durham' apparently people think we're in ireland  lol. maybe thats why things are slow no one wants to move to "ireland":rotfl:

Wife just finished another viewing :-) Plus we have another arranged for tomorrow afternoon (hopefully my turn!) Although the tidying and cleaning can be a chore, I have to say I am immensely proud of our house - sometimes makes me wonder why we are selling!
