Organised Christmas 2008.. The countdown has begun!

Well I haven't started on my lounge yet - will be having a blitz day on Saturday as I am too tied up with a new job ( feel really tired every evening, must be the stress of getting started).:rotfl:

I am beginning to wish I stll had LO's at home - you all have toys and fun things to ddeal with - I have 3 grown up kids and no grandkids yet. So I'll just have to go bonkers in other ways.:j

I did buy my xmas chicken last night - a huge one as we prefer it to turkey. I'm not going to put a meal in the freezer this week but I am going to prep up a stack of roast potatoes for the holidays.

I also have my DD2's 21st Birthday in November so I have been to Macro tonight and bought 6 kilos of jelly goodies and a big tub of flumps to add to the buffet - I'll have to get xmas organised or I'll never manage to cater for the party as well:eek:

Well I think I will have to get going with my pressy buying or I'll really be left behind, you are all so far ahead of me!!!

ohhh Jay Jay can you give me any tips on freezing food please? I am so useless and you seem a food genius

Roast Pots - I just peel and cut to size then boil for about 3-4 minutes and drain. Then I toss gently with oil and some rosemary (I have tons in the garden) and open freeze. Then bag up for the freezer, when needed just bung in the oven with a little extra oil for about 3/4 hour. Voila:D

Lesson 2 next week!!

Being organised, got me to do list for now to weekend.
Double check xmas list, got all the presents, just make sure no gaps
Print off the christmas list - from site
Get panto tickets sorted, got to see Robin Hood twice as dd wants to go with both g-parents
Arrange train times Rhyl - off to see Snow Whit
Check what "special cards" we have left, less to buy this yr.

I dont know about anyone else, but I had calenders and xmas cards printed last yr via vistaprint, (under free offer - just pay post +packing), went onto order this yrs and even though the calender says photo upload, they charge you for the pleasure! only once per order........then to get a 2nd calender it was full price. So anyone who uses vistaprint, just take care of the added extras. Im a sucker as I love the personal style of adding messages to the photos, my fav pic of dd pointing out train window, added the comment "help I've just seen daddas wallet fly by, it had mothballs carrying it" x

Open freeze - just freeze them on a tray and bag up when done.

I had popped over to the Money Saving Old Style forum - it's where I lurk most of the rest of the year.

well hello everyone im back after a manic 3 days i had friends over so now im behind on christmas planning and my house is completely trashed its amasing what an extra couple of people can do so im now on a mission to get back on track by the end of the week at this rate though i'll be hiring cleaners (something i dont wanna do)
