  • Hi all

This is my first post so please be gentle with me !!!

I've bought accelerator stuff from garden centres in the past but all they add to the heap is ammonia and your own body produces plenty of this freebie in the form of "wee".

Why not just "go" in your compost heap and it'll do exactly the same job!! Easier for boys than girls admitedly !!! ;) I've asked my good man to do it for me but he refuses so I have to do it in a pot then walk it down the garden to the composter and pour it in. :o

Have fun and I hope your aim is good !!

  • I try to remember to do this when I'm in Starbucks. Usually it's all snapped up by the time I get there :)

Previous to my post on 07.06.06 my local starbucks have stopped doing this and no one seems to know why

PS. plenty of compost advice over on the greenfingers board ;)
  • I always grab a bag of this when I'm in and I don't even have a garden!!! My Gran does however have a flower bed which smells of roast coffee every time it rains!
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

Don't know if this is the correct place BUT when I was in Starbucks today (in house at Borders Bookshop) I saw that they are giving away packets of used coffee grounds for adding to the compost or direct onto plants.

As I use my own used grounds for this I thought it was a very useful idea for what must be their huge amount.

Have posted this also in the Green-fingered board so one may get deleted!

Excellent way for them to cut down on their refuse collection spend. Next thing they will be offering empty cardboard boxes for mugs to take away to add to their aforementioned compost heaps.

Apparently, slugs don't like coffee, so it's good for keeping the little b*****s away, too.
