£17.50
For O2 mobile
customers
£22.50 all other customers
Why is this?
It is because you live outside of the O2 Broadband area and are being offered the O2 Home Broadband Access package:
What is O2 Home Broadband Access?
O2 Home Broadband Access is the broadband package available if you live an in area which has not been unbundled by O2.
When we unbundle a telephone exchange, we place our own broadband equipment in it. This allows us to connect you directly to the O2 Home Broadband network.
However, if your telephone exchange has not yet been unbundled, we have to use the BT network to deliver O2 Home Broadband to you. In these cases, the Access package is the only one available.
O2 Home Broadband Access has a download speed of up to 8 meg.
What is unbundling?
Unbundling means O2 has installed its own broadband equipment into a BT telephone exchange. Once your telephone exchange has been unbundled, we can connect you directly to the O2 Home Broadband network (via your landline) rather than having to rely on BT equipment in the exchange.
This allows us to offer cheaper, faster broadband.Waddle you do eh?0 -

Non-o2 customers can cut the cost further
It's possible to quickly count as an 'existing o2 mobile customer. Just grab Pay As You Go SIM and top-up at least £10 every three months to keep it active.
So, non-existing customers can save an extra £20/year (£1.66/month) by simply getting a Free o2 Sim and crediting it before taking up the broadband package, even without using its calls. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Will i need to ring o2 and tell them im getting rid of the PC, will i have to cancel the internet and then set it all up again onto my laptop??
sorry if it doesn't make sense!
thankyou x
Once you change to your laptop you don't need to let 02 or any other ISP know you just set up your laptop with your settings for your broadband. If you have problems or worries about this come back in January and ask on the Techie board and the guys there will help you set it up.0 -

O2 will provide you with a wireless router. This allows several PC's to share your internet at the same time and your new laptop will simply connect to the wireless router using WiFi or an Ethernet cable. The router connects to your ISP (O2) and any PC's that you have simply connect to the router. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
ARGHHHH! Just realised that I did not do the cashback deal even though I signed up for the O2 broadband day before yesterday. This is going to hurt! I can already feel the pain.0

Hi
Blimey - just called AOL for MAC number (customer for 8 years, out of contract with silver 2 mb service at £9.99 pm) and they offered me an uprated service (upto 8 Meg), free day & night phone calls for £6.99 pm inclusive - I nearly bit their arm off!!! So will be sticking with them for now but thanks to all for prompting me to make the effort.

Funny I just called AOL to request my MAC. Been with them 3 years so well out of contract. Like you i was on silver for £9.99. Told them I was leaving to go to o2. I was told 'just to make you aware, a customer told us that £7.50 o2 broadband does not include VAT so it would end up about £12 or so a month, more than you're currently paying'.
So I ring o2 and of course the AOL rep was lying, the £7.50 o2 is VAT inclusive.
Pity, if the rep hadn't tried to lie and offered me the £6.99 deal you got, i may have been tempted to stay with them. As such, i'm now looking forward to going to o2. Although i have requested a MAC off AOL before and they didn't email me it so i'll not hold my breath.0 -
Is this offer definitely finishing on 31/10/08?
I only ask as I may struggle to get everything sorted to be able to join in that time.
I need to get my MAC code from Sky, and a PAC code from Virgin to be able to switch to O2 and get the full benefits of this offer.
I have an old (unregistered O2 sim card in front of me - would that still work?
Another wee question, does anyone know if you can add the fact you're an O2 customer into the broadband deal after you've joined O2 Broadband, or will you only get a discount from the initial setup of the broadband?
EDIT: Have just called O2 - old sim not working, sending new one out.0 -

Wow what kind of yarn was he spinning last time I checked VAT in this country was 17.5% - so even if O2 added that to the £7.50 it would add about £1.31 to the price: where did he get £12 from?
YOU wont regret joining o2.Waddle you do eh?0 -
I'm an o2 Standard Broadband subscriber for almost the last year now, and produced a features summary document to help potential o2 (and Bethere, the other Telefonica broadband provider in UK) which should answer lots of questions (even ones you didn't know you had). It's online at:
