Thanks Mk-donald - very comprehensive document. Interesting about the sticky ip and that the kit is 'loaned' only. Wonder if they strictly enforce that? And if thats the case, can you get an upgrade when they offer a new model ;-)0

Glad it was helpful - thanks for the feedback.
Don't get too worked up about the box. As you'll see in the doc o2 have only issued two models of "o2 box" so far, and the second box was really an economy measure, without the VoIP SIP circuitry. Of course if the box fails during your o2 BB subscription/loan then it's o2's responsibility, per the T&Cs, to swap it for a working one and not yours. The T&C's provide for a £50 charge if you don't return it at the end of your subscription (via freepost).0 -
Hello all,
I am new to the siteI need some advice. Let me tell you my situation first:
I am currently with Tiscali and pay £17.99 for unlimited upto 8 Meg (I only get 3.8 Meg maximum) broadband with FREE weekend calls. I have been with them for 3 years plus.
I have been thinking of switching to O2 for a while now since £7.50 sounds like a good deal already, I need a new mobile phone so a cheap O2 PAYG would be perfect to buy and then I can qualify for the cheaper deal.
Well today I rang Tiscali after reading a few posts here. They were only dropping my monthly bill to £9.99 (with next 3 months for £4.99). I asked whether they would also send me a wireless router but they refused. I requested the MAC code, he advised me it would take 1-7 days to be emailed to me, he will also post it out.
So my questions are:
1) Should I stay with them with the deal they offered?
2) If they don't send the MAC code in time, I will miss the deal of the extra £60 cashback with the sites mentioned in the 1st post. Is there anything I can do to speed up the process?
3) Is it relatively painfree to change providers? (I've never changed before) I run a few club websites from home and I cannot be without internet for too long.
I appreciate any help on the above. Many thanks.
Kindest regards,
-Ajay-

Am I right in saying your telephone line rental is through BT at £10.50?
Or is the £17.99 inclusive of line rental? I say this as Tiscali offer line rental and BB can be had for £16.24 a month!
I'd migrate away from Tiscali as over a year you'll now be paying £104.88 with them plus your line rental? whereas if you go through quidco (£90 cashback) and use an o2 PAYG sim and top it up it will be significantly cheaper.

1) If you will use the wireless router then switch, otherwise it's £2.50 a month cheaper with O2, or £7.50 a month cheaper with the cashback offer.
2) You don't need your MAC code to start the transfer, but ask for it as soon as you start the transfer.
3) Switching is easy, just plug in the new router. As with all computer issues there may be some problems, but not usually.
O2 doesn't have static IP, so if you are hosting the forums on your PC, this will be an issue.0 -
Hi all,
With Virgin I pay £20 all in for BB, tel and tv. I do have an O2 mobile contract.
Will I actually be better off switching to O2 broadband given that I will still need to stay with Virgin for the telephone?
As far as I can work out if I get the Quidco cashback, I will effectively just pay £2.50 a month for the broadband with O2.
Interested to hear if any Virgin customers are going to do this, or have already done so and what was your experience. What do I ask Virgin for - a MAC code?MFW #185

depends on how much Virgin will charge you for the line rental and TV alone. If its £17.50 or less then it's worth it financially.
Whether it's worth the hassle of doing so if you can only save a few quid over the year is up to you. Personally unless Virgin can do the line rental and TV for sub £15 I wouldn't bother.0 -
Thanks Gareth - I may call Virgin customer services later and ask how much just the tel and tv would be, also requesting my MAC code, hopefully they will have a loyalty incentive of some sort as have been with them 18 months now...MFW #185

Quick question.. Since i cant get the 7.50/mth offer as i live in an ''Unbundled Area'' will Quidco still give me the £60 if i sign up for the same package which costs £17.50 For O2 mobile customers and £22.50 all other customers.
Im currently paying £20 per month.
So i figure if i get an O2 Sim and top it up every three months (£40PA) then my subscription will be (£40+210=£250 so £20.83 Per Month).
As long as Quidco pay the £60 cash back then its gonna be worth me switch.. if not then i may aswell stay on my current pacakge.0 -
Hi,
Quick question....
I have just joined O2 via the Quidco cashback site.
If anyone else on here also signed up via Quidco can I ask with what amount did your transaction track at?
My Quidco tracked but in the "Newest earnings" display it is saying:
O2 tracked £0.00 Oct??
Is this normal?
By the way currently with orange who offered me 6 months free then 6 months @ £5 per month.
They could not give £60 credit to go with it so said no.
They asked me how I wanted my MAC code email or Letter. I said email, the guy said it may take 3 - 5 days and I said fine.
After 15 minutes I received an email from them with my MAC code, now how quick is that!
Many thanks,
:j0
