Hi All……………….relatively new to all this so I hope this is the right place for me to start my ramblings!
Bit of background, Im Linz, will be married a year on 15th September and am on a quest to be a domesticated money saving goddess! Lol. Easier said than done as I have discovered.
Hubby and I are blissfully happy but seem to stumble from one month to the next with regards to our finances………….and literally some months I mean we really stumble! All our finances are shared, mortgage in joint names………..basically everything is chucked in together!
In general I am not a very organised person, our house is usually a mess, always clean but messy, I have had to get an ironing lady (DEFINITELY not very MSE) but basically if we didn’t have her we wouldn’t have any ironed clothes! We tend to live from food from the freezer or takeaways and right now I feel far from grown up and domesticated! Have attempted the flylady thread and although generally I always manage at least level one it tends to be I end up doing a whole weeks worth in one day.
We both work full time and by the time I get home in the evenings (usually around 6pm) I am wrecked, its all I can do to bung something in the oven and throw it in the direction of a plate! Currently hate my job and it makes me so miserable.
Basically I suppose what I am saying is that I am fed up living in the madness that is currently our home! Haven’t had the easiest year and there always seems to be something that gets on top of all the other things I should be doing. We are TTC at the moment and just had a sudden realisation that we need to sort our lives out!
Hoping that by posting here some of you lovely people will be able to point me in the direction of getting my bum in gear, sorting out my house and saving money in the process!! (if not at least if I keep updating this I may be shamed into actually doing something!)
So there you have it, my life summed up in a few paragraphs and if you are still reading give yourself a pat on the back!
Linz xoxox
Its hard to wait around for that something you know may never happen, but its harder to give up when you know its everything you ever wanted.........
People tell me Im going the wrong way..............when its simply a way of my own!0 -
Miserable weather here and have decided to put on a pair of thick socks (pinched from DH) and put one of my new cardigans over my top and trousers.
I bought a couple of cardigans from Sainsburys a few weeks ago and used Nectar points so they were free (or felt like that anyway). I expected to need them in late October sometime - not early September!
DD has a friend staying over as she was out last night but they have not surfaced yet.
Might put the breadmaker on and make dough for a couple of French sticks for later and have no idea what to make for tea - maybe sweet potato cakes with spicy potato wedges - Spanish omelet - too miserable for salad and had home made chow mein yesterday -DD has gone off pasta as she lived on it in uni- other DD thinks she wants to be vegetarian (but will eat chicken!)
Think I can hear movement so will go and look busy lol!;)"This site is addictive!"

Wave to linz :hello:
You might want to have a look at the slow cooker thread as even though I am a stay at home mum it is lovely to just be able to put ingredients in it in the morning on low and have a meal ready cooked in it for the evening.
I have not been keeping close track of spending while DDs have been on school holidays but have just bought a cash record book and am now starting to note everything that goes on direct debit, standing orders and cash withdrawal so I know where I stand.
If I can save enough by being careful I want to treat myself to a Remoska . A few months ago I treated myself to a Panasonic bread maker which I had wanted for ages but I waited till it was on sale at Amazon for £40 cheaper and free delivery. DDs love the home baked rolls and the french bread it produces and it saves me spending constantly when I just pop out for bread.
I am not suggesting you rush out and buy a slow cooker, breadmaker etc but if you do a "spending diary" to work out where the money goes it will help you decide what would be useful to you."This site is addictive!"

DH always reckons we eat better when I am economising, mainly because there is always some kind of soup in the slowcooker, I bake bread and rolls more often, use up every scrap of veg etc. and make Tightwad gazette muffins (which only take one egg and can be sweet or savoury)."This site is addictive!"

And it's raining again.......
Happy Birthday to TiredSon as well - hope he has a lovely day!
Aussie, know what you mean about the organiser - the "strip" version is a bit irritating, I am going to cut a rectangle of fabric & sew it round the bottom, with all the pockets facing into the centre, so it makes a "box" shape (if that makes sense). I had an old bag organiser similar to that which was brilliant - and I am ALWAYS changing handbags, so it makes life much easier. And a girl can never have too many bags. Or shoes.
Ivyleaf, hope your back is ok, try to keep yourself moving gently if you can, but be careful.
Welcome LoopyLinz (and any other newbies I have missed).
Lilycharlotte - free chinese food?!?! yum yum, I would be the size of a house if I worked there...!!!!!!!!
Celyn, glycobiologicalchemistythingy..... que??? lol.... I am struggling to get to grips with exactly what "methodology" is but no book seems to explain it in words of one syllable
However, it sounds like a good job opportunity for you - and if you would be much happier then go for it!!!!!!!!!
Meantime, I am going to attempt to put a shelf up... wish me luck (i am somewhat of a beginner....)Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)

I had the same scenario last year.I barely tapped a woman car door with my door in a supermarket car park, and left no mark.Stupidly, because she was flipping out, I gave her my phone number and address, as I wasn't thinking straight, and my insurance ended up paying out over £1000 for her to drive around in hire car for 2 days , and the non existant job to be done:rolleyes:  I had only just passed my test, and was naive about the fact I needn't have admitted any liability, but happily it hasn't affected my insurance as much as I thoughtmummysaver wrote: »Celyn thanks very much for that, couldn't get through to my insurance co when i tried so will speak to them later, don't know what she thinks she'll gain by doing this if the insurance co have told her to go away, would've thought it's a waste of her money! Still she did mention when it happened that she had already had several "accidents" hmmm, no wonder the insurance co were suspicious of her, perhaps she didn't realise they have a database of claims that they all share!
Off to lunch now, pizza hut is opp Asda so will be popping in to collect my free lenor, see thebigsofty.co.uk for stores participating where you live, you just need to take in a top from any old bottle of fabric softener and you get a free bottle of lenor or a voucher from customer services. Not much use to all the vinegar users here, but I use softener when I remember to chuck it in! Could also do with something to make the washing smell nice, just smells damp at the mo with it draped all over the dining room from yesterday!
The silly bint probably had other dents in her car that got repaired instead:rolleyes: "You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"
