Morning all
Firsy dat with OH away was wasted at work being hassled to death by the new post-doc who is at that wonderful level of unconcious incompetance and is blaming the world and it's wife for the screw up he made yesterday because where he came from is so much better than our lab and he didn't want to work for us, he wanted to work for one of the big guns at Cambridge....yadda....yadda...yadda.... *sigh* Still if he knows best, I guess I should just leave him to it. (I might tell him later that I've worked in that lab in Cambridge and I have a photo of the guy he wanted to work for in a feather boa and drawn-on cats whiskers
)
Saying that yesterday I found the most perfect job advertised. I know the guy who's lab it is, (he's the external head of my project group) and he's mentioned before at conferences that I should apply for a Wellcome trust grant and go up to work for him, so I might stand a chance. Only drawback is that it is in Dundee. I tend to be very nervous with these things having had my confidence knocked out of me over the years, but I have to do this. I need to drop him an e-mail today to ask if they'd consider me - it's a bit out of my area (they want a cell biologist or a glycobiologist ideally and I'm a glycochemist) but I'm a fast learner and he knows I want to dio more biological stuff
I did lots of laundry yesterday and made lentil soup for lunch in the slow cooker. I was really suprised how nice it was, which is good as there is quite a lot of it
I started some pear chutney but then realised I had no vinegar (luckily before I'd done the pears) so will finish it tonight. I've substituted the raisians for figs (as OH hates raisians and I've had figs in teh cupboard for ages) so I'll see how it turns out.

Tonight I will have a pork chop, some new potatoes and veggies followed my a yogurt so todays meals are all sorted.
I must try to detutt my computer room it is crammed full of all sorts of gubbins, still at least it keeps the rest of the house tidy.
<<hugs>> to those who need one, and cheer up the rest of you its POETS day today.
Cheers Chums

Good morning all!
Took ages to nod off last night, was too busy thinking of all sorts of things that didn't really need thought at that time of the night, so made a list and promptly fell fast asleep! Don't feel any worse for the lack of sleep though, must be cos I had 2 nights off work! See I knew work was bad for my health lol!
Vile weather here today, pouring with rain, strong winds, gloomy but thankfully not too cold. Cats and dog are less than impressed by it though!
Made bread last night so should be ok today, will put some dough on for french sticks later though, then we can have them for lunch on sat. Cheesy potatoes tonight, so best chuck some pots in the remoska later! Curry for tomorrow is in the sc and smells lovely, always seems to taste better a couple of days after you make it, so thought I'd plan it that way this time, the meal planning is really working this time! I will save money, I will save money! Well perhaps not, cos I'm off to eat all I can in pizza hut at lunchtime, lol! Meeting a friend for a catch up, not that we really need it, we speak daily and we're going out together on sat night, still we can be all girly and discuss what we'll be wearing - galoshes probably!
Put the spare double duvet under the fitted sheet on my bed last night, how cosy has it made it feel, all soft and snuggly! It really is the little things that make you happy - well they make me happy anyway!
Not much else planned for the day, need to have a quick tidy, but will get the troops to help with that later as mostly it is bits from their school bags dotted around! Also need to unload dw when it stops, not much point putting washing on at the mo though!

Good morning all. Very late for me today because I slept right through the alarm so DH left later for work to avoid the rush hour traffic. He's only just left. I hate waking up late!
Anyway, I see Happy Birthdays are in order for Mr Hardup though he sounds as if he's had all a man needs for his birthday! Twice, eh? Was the second one an early Christmas pressie?!

Welcome to Bootsalebabe! You'll love it here even if most of us as mad as a box of frogs!
It is pouring with rain at the moment and doesn't look as if it will stop at all today. I need to go out and get some garden vouchers for DS1's birthday on Sunday - I've already bought him two heated propagators which I know he'll be pleased with. It's my birthday the same day so he'll call round with the family on Sunday afternoon and we can celebrate together.
Well, the WM is on - I don't know where all the washing came from; I did loads yesterday and there's only the two of us here. My soapnuts are doing really well - this will be the sixth load on my first little bag full (about 7 soapnuts) and there's thousands left in the big bag they were delivered in. I'm really pleased with the results.
We're having leftover lamb hotpot for dinner with chips - my DH loves that sort of meal and it's very MSE.
Well, I'd better go and clear up the breakfast things so I'll see you all later.

Happy birthday to Mr HH (he'll have to just settle for me singing happy bday to him, think he's already ahead on the pressie front!)
Happy birthday to tired mum's ds too!
Celyn - sounds like the job is worth applying for, always good to expand into other areas and develop, good luck and hope you get a lovely quick and most of all positive response to your email. Perhaps you should stick the photo of the chap wearing a boa and whiskers on your pooter as a screensaver!
Sammy - hope your oh is on the mend today.
Mrs Mix - good luck with the doc, hope it's good news for you and that you really are feeling better.
Aussie - good news about dgs, give him a big hug from all of us!
Cheapskate - if you can jump start your car when it grinds to a halt, it might be worth getting one of those portable jump start things, my last car used to stop in the most awkward place, felt like it would wait and choose its moment, anyway the jump start thing was great and more than that gave me peace of mind that I wouldn't get stuck anywhere!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Morning peeps
i should have stayed in bed a bit longer but i already had a lie in until 8am:D
The weather is horrible!! throwing it down with rain and it`s dark and foggy, even the doggies don`t want to go out.
Tonights dinner is supposed to be salad so i may just have to search the cupboards for something a little more warming, hope that i have time before i leave for w*rk as it`s another late shift today.
The bm is on in the kitchen to make the dough for some more remoska rolls, i`ll not leave them to rise for too long today after yesterdays disaster
Desperate housewife - they do end up like a tear and share, i saw your post on the remoska thread yesterday - gorgeous!
Happy Birthday to Mr Hester & Tired Mum`s DS :bdaycake:
We go on holiday in a couple of weeks and i`m so looking forward to the break, hope the weathers better than this though.
It`s quite cold here up north and last night i noticed that there was a real nip in the air, i`m determined not to put the heating on for a while yet.
((((HUGS)))) for Penny pincher and anyone else who may need one, if the weather`s like this everywhere then i think that everyone will need a small hug as it`s bloomin `orrible here!
Have a nice day peeps

Oh I'm so cross, just had a claim made in the small claims court from a woman who is claiming vast amounts of damage were done by my car door being opened and touching her car! It touched it, there was no flippin damage! I'm guessing she got short sharp shrift from the insurance co and that's why she's done it, argh, will need to phone my insurance co and have a proper read when I've calmed down. Stoooopid lady!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000
