I hope Taplady's DS is warm and dry somewhere.

Sending more (((hugs))) to PenPin - thinking of you.

Thanks to everyone for inviting my friend to join us. She managed to successfully email me when she got back home so I'm going to keep encouraging her to come on here. She's still at the stage where she thinks if she presses the wrong button the computer will blow up!

Anyway, tonight's dinner was the rest of the lamb hotpot in the bottom of the Remoska for half an hour then I put oven chips in my sandwich cake tin on the top, which saved me having to cover the hotpot with foil, and it was all ready and perfectly cooked half an hour later. Pudding was half the very healthy bar of Cadbury's Turkish Delight that our Somerfield Express has for £1 on offer at the moment! We might have the other half for supper!

The rain has been truly dreadful today so I hope no-one is suffering from flooding. I saw on the news a lady saying this was the third time she had been flooded in a year. The forecast isn't any better for the weekend, either.

Oh, well - I'm going to sit down now. Hope everyone has a good evening.

oh my daisies - my computer is very poorly and it has taken all day to get it started. I was almost hyperventilating at the thought of not being able ot get on all weekend. Haven't quite caught up yet but hugs again to PP and to tapmaster - what a worry

series of domestic disasters and bb final has meant that tea is still a work in progress and will mostly consist of leftovers bunged together with crossed fingers.

dgs has had his home visit for school on the 26th. He proudly showed them his trousers and shirts which are not allowed to go in the wardrobe but are hanging on the living room door so that he can show them to his nana every time she visits. dd filled out forms with his teacher while dgs had a chat and a story with the nursery nurse. He was so sweet and politely thanked them for "reading me mine story" and offered to show them how to press the button for the lift. He has chosen a moon picture for his coat peg. Tomorrow we are heading into kingston to buy his school shoes while dd(11) meets her friend for lunch.

    have a good evening

Stefe.....ah bless your little DGS, hope DD has fun being a lady who lunches.
Redruby, what year is your DD in at school. Miss Twit is doing the triple science the IGCSE ones (I think) she has no idea what she wants to do though.
Hester, way to go :T I hope Mr Hardup :D appreciates the sacrifices you are making for him ;)
Taplady, hope your DS is ok and you aren't affected too badly by the floods

I've come to bed and I'm now snug and warm in my jarmies with my feet on a hot water bottle.
Cup of tea and NCIS on TV.....perfect evening.

Hi just popped on to let you know we eventually fetched DS2 ourself - got back at 9.30pm after a long detour. Thankyou all for your concern. He was mightily relieved when we got there. he had managed to get himself a meal at Tesco so at least he was warm and dry.:j
DS1 decided thankfully to stop with friends and not to drive home.:T

Our town has now reopened but I think some of the shops were flooded again, lots of people are pumping out their cellars. Hopefully I shall be able to drive to work in the morning.

just off for a long soak in a hot bath now - have even put the heating on for a bit:D
    Do what you love :happyhear
  • taplady, I'm glad both DS's are safe and well.

I am feeling better this evening. DH has finally been transfered to a proper ward at 3pm this afternoon and after the utter chaos of the emergency ward it is lovely. Much more organized and they are giving him his medication regularly. His leg still doesn't look any better but at least he is being checked on every so often and not ignored like before!! Felt happier leaving him there.
:)Do more of what makes you happy:)

So glad to hear they are both safe Taplady!

mrs_mix - Glad you didn't have to go into hospital, but make sure you get plenty of rest!

Welcome to our new posters. I didn't mean to ignore you, honestly - just forgot before!

silvercharming - we had a good time in France, thank you, and didn't come home with food poisoning this time as I did in June :p Lovely to hear that your Dave is so much better!

Hardup Hester - glad your OH enjoyed his present:D and that things look as if they might improve at work - hope you will keep your job though! Are you really 57? I'd thought you were about 45!

wannabe sybil - well done on using the Remoska :T Hopefully it will now become a less scary prospect each time. I haven't got one yet, partly because I just don't know where I'd put one! What a worry that little bear won't keep his pyjamas on. Would it be worth trying one of those sleeveless sleeping bags? (I think they're called Gro-bags, though Gro-bags used to be for planting tomatoes in!) My DGS was still using one at 19 months - it became too hot for them after that. He has a fleecy all-in-one suit to wear over his pyjamas, but I don't think he's needed to try that out yet.
DH rang the Council today about having our old table and chairs and junk collected. Apparently a lady called Wendy will come and have a look at it sometime next week (they'll ring to tell us when) and give us a quote. It was so much easier when the men would just tell you how much it was when they arrived with the truck  One time we only had an old sofa to be taken, and when they saw that that was all there was, they didn't charge us! Ah, those were the days....:D

Ooh, before I forget, thanks for the kind wishes about my back! It feels a bit better tonight, and I managed to bend over the bath to wash my hair.

I made cottage pie for dinner using a recipe from one of the Diabetes cookbooks. It used lentils in place of some of the mince, which I know a lot of people on here already do. When I read the recipe I thought there didn't seem to be an awful lot of stock (it said to use 6 fl.oz.), so I used just over half a pint - it still wasn't enough though, and some of the mince/lentil mixture burnt so i didn't manage to save half for next time as I'd planned :o It was very tasty though, and next time I'll use a lot more stock! I'd forgotten the lentils would absorb more liquid than the meat. I hope the other recipes in that book are more reliable though!

All for now, goodnight, sleep well

    ivyleaf xx
