Afternoon all
Happy Birthday to Mr HH and to TiredSon
Special ((((hug)))) for Pen-Pin, sorry to hear you have to have the op, but if you're heaps better afterwards, it'll all be for the best.
Sammyjig I think that's disgraceful that your OH had to wait so long for a bed. I hope he's a bit better today, it sounds extremely unpleasant.
((((Hugs)))) also for all the others who are unwell/sad/worried/just fed up with the rotten weather.
We shan't be able to go far from home this w/e as Mr LW is on call - basically, he has to do early morning checks (from home) at 08:00 both days, and if there's a problem during the w/e he gets a phone call, and has to be at the computer sorting it out within an hour. So it'll be a flying visit to Sainsburys tomorrow and the Farmers Market on Sunday.
I wish this rain would let up - the back lawn is getting very long again; I shall have tribes of pygmies taking up residence before long!:rotfl:
Not sure what to do for tea tonight - there's a little bit of quiche to use up, but will need to supplement it with something.
Anyway, have a good day, all.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
(((Hugs))) to you, Pam, take it easy and put yourself first - that's an order!
I am so cold but have just put a thicker cardigan on. I can't believe how I used to take the heating for granted. Last year, if it was this cold, I'd have put it on for an hour to warm up! I am definitely going to be having an inventory of our winter clothes this week and will start buying a couple more thermal vests and so on. I might even knit myself some elegant fingerless gloves for when I am on the computer! !)
Mioliere - I have got my vest on today - not thermal though!:D will be on the look out for those. My fingers are frozen and my feet(got the hotwater bottle going) I think i have reynauds syndrome as my fingers go white and numb at the slightest chill in the air, sometimes just going through the chiller section in Tesco's sets them off! also my toes and ears too. Must go to the docs about it one day.Do what you love :happyhear0 -
Good afternoon all
This is the first time I am able to get on the computer today as I did not gey up until; 10am and then out neighbour needed a jump start and also he rean out of petrol,, luckily we had some in a can in the boot for emergencies,, thing is he did have a jumpstarter but he loaned it to ''Andrew'',,and andrew is one of these people who never give things back ,,,that is why we never lend anything if we vcan help it,, I hate people borrowing things and not bringing them back,,straight away.
We have said if Andrew comes up here we will give him what for...
we also had to go to B&Q to return the handle set as it had been used and was in a terrible state..
It has never stopped raining today and everything is getting very wet lol
I have the BM on today again
mopped the bathroom floor
and now I am going to have a cuppa and a biccie (if there are any left)
right I may read the thread with my coffee but there are so many pages
See you soon

Mioliere, you make me feel hot just describing what you're layering up in! I was thinking it was rainy & eugh, but not cold... I am quite warm..!!!! OMG, there's a glimpse of blue sky out there!!!!!!!!!!! Edit to say I have now got patio doors wide open (while it's not raining)

Jo1320000, glad your endoscopy is over now, hope the results are ok.
Pam/MrsMix, glad you haven't got to go into hospital either
MSDiva, glad Treacle is ok, it is a worry though when they're not right.
Taplady, I was watching the news at lunchtime & felt so sorry for the lady in Gloucestershire whose house has just flooded for the 3rd time, just as she'd finished decorating after the last time. And some people still haven't managed to get back home after last summer's floods I think.
Shelf not up yet as I seem to have been in & out like a yo-yo all afternoon as well, but picked up a small wood-slat shelf unit off my mum (swapping for my tall one) and now rearranged the hall cupboard I've been trying to sort out for days. So it's my store cupboard & also space to hide the hoover & ironing board
Also bought a ready-planted hanging basket from Homebase (planted for autumn/winter colour) reduced to £6 instead of £13, and I had a £7 voucher to use, so pleased with that too.
Pork chops in honey & mustard sauce tonight I think as well. Easy to chuck in a casserole dish!Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)

Diva I am so glad that Treacle is okay. Don't pets worry you! Evil cat nearly got knitted into a scarf last night, and was very offended, but she does leave her tail lying around.
Going to try a casserole in the Remoska, but feel a little under par. I don't need to start it for another thirty minutes. Can you tell that I am a little apprehensive  But this is one of the best ways to get past all this silliness. (:o if I can)
I will probably not be able to fight my way passed dear heart to the computer tonight or over the weekend. So I hope you all have a lovely one.
Tomorrow I hope to go out with dear heart and little bear and even if it is raining we can take him somewhere.
I feel I have to communicate this somewhere, and dear heart is kind but gets baffled. Tomorrow is my late mother's birthday. We had an extremely stormy relationship and, it hurts to say, my life is much happier without her in it. She never saw little bear and in many ways I am profoundly grateful. However she was a good woman in her own way and she did her best. Looking round me, all the influences she has left me are influences that I want to fight. Yet she had so much good in her, and many people felt enriched by knowing her. It would be easier if everything was black and white. I'm having my little trip and stumble down memory lane today, as tomorrow I will be a little too busy, and I will make a donation to a charity in her memory, just as she would like.
Hmm. If you struggled through that last paragraph then I am extremely flattered and grateful.
And I have ordered the new Terry Pratchett which will cheer me up immensely and I must stop spending money!Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -
Taplady - I get Reynauds, too - my hands are always cold even in the summers we used to get. If your hands go white and numb, that's a sure sign of it. I went out this morning and really should have worn gloves but I didn't want to look daft - no-one else is wearing them yet! I make sure I have plenty of gloves for winter and got into a dreadful panic last autumn when I thought I'd lost my driving gloves! I couldn't live without those! I'll knit some fingerless ones for indoors when I'm knitting or typing but I always buy leather ones for outdoors which I pick up in charity shops. I have three really good pairs that I paid 50p each for! My DH bought me some sheepskin mittens which are great if you just go out for a walk but they make my hands look like I've got boxing gloves on so aren't very practical! I'm not sure there's much the doctors can do about it but I find running warm water into a bowl and soaking my hands in it for a few minutes is about the best thing to do. I'm just like you - I can't stand the chiller section in the supermarkets! I feel the cold right in the centre of my bones - it's a horrid feeling, isn't it? Let's hope the winter is not as bad as the summer has been!
Well, my friend is sat here warming her hands on a cup of drinking choccie; I'm showing her how MSE works but, as she still isn't confident enough to email me, I don't think she'll be joining us for a while! She's fascinated by the forum, though, and how we all seem to know each other even though we haven't met, so that may well convince her to join!
Anyway, see you later.

W-Sybil, (((((hugs)))) for tomorrow. No matter what the relationship was like with your mother, of course you will still have memories & mixed feelings, and the fact that you can see past the storminess & acknowledge the good that she did shows you have a generous spirit.
Have a good evening/weekend in the rain with your little bear

Sybil, I'm glad you can see that your mum was good in her own way. I had a dreadful relationship with my family, and when I divorced my ex, I made sure they none of them knew where I'd gone. When I learned that my father had died, (via a friend, and confirmed later via ancestry.co.uk) I was unable to shed a single tear for him.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0

Mioliere - I also have some hand warmers that you put in boiling water then press to activate for when I'm dog walking in winter - they are great but its a squash to get them in my gloves:D and they only last for an hour or so. I've yet to find gloves that keep my hands warm - I have good quality leather ones but they dont help. It is a nuisance when we go out in winter as we like to go horse racing but I cant cope with the cold its just too painful.
As for my feet I have thermal insoles in my trainers and lots of thermal socks!:D plus I couldn't do without my electric blanket either!or my hat!Do what you love :happyhear0
