But the phone line is ringing at the other end whilst you are being told the price, if they pick up the phone whilst you listen to the message you will still be charged for the call if you put your phone down after not likeing what you hear.
That's why sometimes when the pricing message stops playing, the person you have rung is already on the line saying "hello?".0 -
Can anyone please explain the call 1899 Voip charges please...
Would this be a cheaper method than going through my ntl line?
How do I set it up what will I need?
Are Call1899 VoIp the cheapest or is there someone else who is cheaper then 1899?0 -
Here you go Wig, there is a thread here that was split off from this thread earlier regarding Voip and 1899.

plus a sticky thread with collated Voip links to other threads.

Thanks Utilitybroker. I haven't tried one of these non-subscriber cheap lines before, but having worked my way through the Discount Dial website, then cross-checked it against the NTL website for their cost (what a nightmare. Code PG8 for Germany = 1p/min + 5p connection charge) and it looks good. Might also get round the appalling connection problems 1899 now offer. I'll give it a go.
Cheers!0 -
The thought occurs to me that if Cable Customers dont want to sign up for 1899 etc etc or use a Onetel Phone Pal,or similarThey can get cheaper 01/02 calls at peak rate and evenings by using one of the UK Cheap 1p a minute 0844 dial through numbers for 01/02 numbers like https://www.dialaround.co.uk 0844 861 74 74.Their is a NTL connection charge of 5p of course.
NTL charge the same as Bt to call 0844,plus a connection charge.0
