1899 increasing charges to cable customers (merged)

I have read this thread with interest, 1899 have finally started charging per minute for calls.
I'm with NTL, and using 1899 is still cheaper than anyone else. Ok, its more expensive than it was, but its still cheap as chips. We only dial normally on a weekend, and thats free with NTL.
With free line-rental, our bill is still under £10/month. Before it was nearer £40.
I'll not desert them just yet.Debt-free as of 01.10.08. I will never have a CC again and I'm "in the black" :beer:0 -

Exactly what I was going to say. I'm with Telewest which is also free at the weekends, so I only use 1899 for landline calls Monday to Friday and all week for mobile calls. It is still much cheaper than I would be using Telewest through the week. They charge something like 4p a minute during the day and 2p a minute in the evenings.0 -
Call 1899 have recently (last day or two) changed their charges for NTL customers from 0p/min to 0.5p/minute. Their web site now confirms this (as does the nice lady who tells you how much each call is!)
Not now so good for those long calls, so be aware.Away with the Fairies Dad0 -

However Roccket wasn't aware of this thread when he posted a new thread and I merged his post into this thread, so you can blame me for his post being here.0 -

If you have broadband, there is always VoIP, you can get free calls to UK landlines. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0

Subscribe to 18185 as well. 4p connection but calls to Germany only 1p a minute using 0808 cable access number.
Or use one of the Dial through providers. EG: https://www.discountdial.co.uk
0844 861 64 64.1p a min to Germany.0
