It wasn't so much a challenge I was just interested to see how much I could save a week but keep my spending to a minimum. I can't wait for next year as I am going to keep a record of how much I have saved on the weekly budget and tot it up at the end of the year.

The good news is that the debt is going down and anything else that I can throw at it is getting used too.

Just a quick update, I'm going to have a NSD today. I've just had my hair cut and mum paid for it (she said I needed some pampering) and she has gone for hers to be done.

I only have DH's prescription and contact lenses to get this afternoon, I don't count prescriptions as being unnecesary spending and DH's contact lenses are in the budget for the month so that doesn't count either.

So we have had snow and now we have rain and it is still cold and I still have a cold…Bleugh!

Anyway, I am going to have a look at the finances again once DH has been paid on the 15th and I am going to see if we have any extra money.

Today I am meeting an ex work colleague for lunch as well as getting some fruit and veg from the market and some frozen food from Iceland whilst I am in the next town. Kills two birds with one stone so to speak.

Right I am going to get motivated as I need to wash up and have a shower and get the kids dressed before my mum arrives.

You've had snow where you are? Did you see it said on the news that it was 1934 when it last snowed in October in the south of England! Sorry about your cold, thats miserable. I'm looking forward to being out and about too this afternoon, so I hope you enjoy your day as well.

We had snow in the night but it was all gone by morning & today was cold & wet but looks like it's brightening up a bit now.

Well October hasn’t turned out to be the NSD achievement I had hoped for :mad: ; I think it is because my mum has been here and DH & I have taken the opportunity to slink off out almost every time, we can’t get a babysitter and tend to get kicked out of the house by my mum when she is down.

So honesty time, we have spent far too much money that we know we haven’t got :mad: even buying the kids clothes for the wedding (was needed though).

Here is my plan for November:

• Achieve 8 NSD, more if possible
• Finish Christmas presents for family
• Do finances on 15th and see what went wrong and slap myself silly! :mad:
• Get a grip of the cashback clicks again
• Do all the surveys going
• No unnecessary spending!

The good news is that one of the survey sites that DH is signed up to has reached £10 now and once it has cleared on his account we are going to redeem it and put it towards Christmas either this year or next

I also won a £1 voucher for Woolworths from GFK which I am waiting on arriving; this will go with the others towards the sales after Christmas

I need to think about how I am going to move forward next year too to make it even easier for us and hopefully that much more debt free….a plan will be formed and put on here as soon as I come up with it.

Sorry the October plan didn't work - it sounds like you already know where it went wrong, so hopefully November will be better. It sounds like your mum coming down is a bit of a holiday for you, for all sorts of reasons - it is for me too, when my mum comes down, so don't beat yourself up about it. Just post that plan asap!

Morning,

Today is DB's wedding, we are staying in a B&B overnight and there is a minibus taking us and some of the family to the manor house where the wedding is.

The downside is that it is supposed to rain today, but it might stay fine for the photo's.

Nothing much to report on the NSD front, I think that might start on Monday.
