A whole weekend away (practically!) Hope you had a great time.
2023: the year I get to buy a car
  • Morning,

Well the wedding didn't go as well I hoped, the ceremony itself was good but there was nothing for the children to do, so they were all bored and as a consequence they all misbehaved. The evening was just as bad but that is another story.

Anyway, we are now in November officially and as promised I will post where I am up to with the money making however this won't be until later as I need to update the spreadsheet.

Good news though is that we weren't here when the postman arrived on Saturday and one of the pieces of post was for a cheque in the sum of £185.55 an over payment for DH's old car, this will go in the bank tomorrow and part of it will be paid off the loan.

Be back later with that update.

What a shame about the wedding - children can get really hysterical at that kind of do, can't they... I hope some of it was good for you tho.

And £185 is a lot of dosh! Lovely to update your totals after that kind of cheque comes in.

    Have a good one.

In October I have saved £58.44 in deals/delivery; DH & I have also saved £37 in change which has gone into the savings account, I have also won a £1 gift voucher which I am saving for next year, so far I only have £3, total saved in October £95.44 – I am hoping to beat this one this month :D

The terramundi is slowly filling up and I am confident that it will be full before the end of the year – this is going towards the loan and the kids bank accounts, we might have a take away and a bottle of wine each too...not the kids of course lol :rotfl:

So I have also been thinking about my plan for 2009 and how I can make it a bit easier on us as a family, this will be posted separately when I start my new diary for the new year…need a title though…any ideas???
  • Okay, so I have done my update as promised so I guess I should get on with what I have done today just so that I have it in black and white.

I started this morning with £33.00 in my purse, I needed to go to Tesco’s to get some stuff as the freezer blew up on Friday and as such we needed some stuff for dinner tonight, the kids needed yogurts and milk too…total spent in there was £10.73 also there are two lots of playgroups this week so £2 is needed there which leaves me with £20 that I can spend this week and the 27p remaining will be put in the demi-john.

Out of the £185.55 I am going to transfer £85.55 to the savings account and put it towards next year not SiL and we then might be able to go on holiday with any luck.

I have also ordered this weeks shopping and have saved £5.90 in deals and delivery charge and will go to the market on Thursday for fruit and veg.

Off to update my sig now and play with the play-doh with the kids.
  • Despite feeling really pleased with myself and what we are achieving as a family to bring the debt down, poor DH broke down last night and confessed he doesn’t think he is providing enough for his family and doesn’t know what to do about it.

DH earns a fairly modest amount each month and at the moment the four of us are living off it as well as me working in the background trying to make some money, so far not going all that well.

So it has been agreed that I will go through the finances today earlier than I was going to just so he can get some idea of where we stand. He’s kicking himself for getting the car we have as it is slightly more each month and is worried that I am just saying that we can afford it in the budget as he works damn hard for it…not true I’d never tell him a lie like that.

This morning DS starts back at school and I need to nip to the bank and the post office to post a parcel to Karmacat; I also need to do some washing today and then will hit the finances.

Might get chance to update later.

Oh thats awful - poor thing. I feel really bad now for accepting your offer of the CD envelopes... look, keep them, use them when you're into amazon-ing again at some stage, this stuff can stay in the background for ages and then its up and running again. Its easier for me to make money, I don't have kids to look after! Truly!

  • Hi Karmacat,

No problem about the envelopes, they are in the post to you. They would only get thrown away anyway when we (eventually) do a major clear out of the conservatory. Please don't feel bad, I'd rather they were used and they are going to a good home.

Anyway, I got the first gas/electric bill since changing to E.on and I doubt that we will be with them long, the bill was £233 that is minus what they took on DD before I changed it to bill payment. I will see what it is like next quarter and then look at swapping again.

Good news is that DS went to school quite happily so that's something I guess.

    Hi Tea,

just popping in quickly before I actually do some work, poor DH, I also sometimes feel really down about not providing enough for DD but I try very hard to not get carried away & compare with others. Times like these I think we all need to remember that we have a roof over our heads, clothes, warmth & food & really what else matters ?

Lucky DH to have a wife like you who actually does deal with all the financial stuff & helps out as much as possible with the income. Sounds like you have a great team going & together you will deal with it :D .

Good news about DS enjoying school, it does make life easier when they actually want to go there, I just hope I can keep DD keen for the next 9 years  .

Good luck with the overhaul & I hope you're not overdoing things :naughty:
