New me, new diary, new positive thinking!

Options
I was getting rather fed up with the last one as I felt so negative but not now, so feel free to pull up a seat and relax.

Those who took the trouble to read my last diary, thank you, know that we are £10,270.21p (can’t forget the 21 pence) in debt with a family loan to DH’s family.

I now know where the money is going and am in the process of sorting out how to rectify it. I have the shopping sort of nailed on the head and am sorting out the rest of things and I know we will get there slowly.

We are on holiday in Devon the week after next and I am determined that this time it will be a success…well it can’t be any worse than Wall Park! I plan that we won’t be spending a huge lot of money there as we can’t afford to.

Next week the playgroups start again and I also need to sort out DS’s school uniform in that time as there will be very little time once we come back from our time away.

The position on the points side of things as follows:
DH’s Pigsback account: 735 points
My Pigsback account: 893 points
DH Valued Opinions: £5
My Valued Opinions: £5
DH Lightspeed: 25 points - £10 redeemed
My Lightspeed: 25 points - £2 redeemed
DH Pureprofile: £2
My Pureprofile: £15.30
Quidco: £2.35 - £3.20 being tracked

DH’s Juicy Brains: TBC
My Juicy Brains: £9.50

The Quidco thing will be increasing over the next few months as I am going to be buying the kids and DH’s Christmas presents via them as much as possible.

I am also wondering whether it is worth it buying one online shop via Quidco from Tesco’s to get some cashback??

My goal is that this time next year we will be down to £5270.21, not sure how I am going to do it but it will happen, there is £100 that comes out every month to SIL’s bank account for the loan but want to do everything I can to pay them extra, possibly start and give them the 21p cash in hand :rotfl:

Hi Purple. If you put up a current SOA then I am sure someone wil have some ideas to ease things.
Have you looked on the Up your income board to see if there is any way of getting more money?
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)
  • Hi Tealady,

SOA was put up on the old diary and some very good constructive criticism was received and is currently in the process of being worked on.

Will have a look at the Income board and see what there is, thanks.

Goodluck Purpletea, i followed your last diary and but i never posted, i'm sure you will get your loan down to £5270.21p.
Have you had a look at the payment a day thread, you could put a payment a day into a savings account and pay your SIL an extra instalment every couple of months (does that make sense).

Do you do the £10 a day challenge? If not, why not sign up for September - an extra £300 a month towards that loan would have it cleared in record time!

    Hey Purple,

Great minds think alike :D I've also decided to put my old diary to rest & start a new one to coordinate with my new serious debt busting which will commence on 1st sept.

Sorry to hear about impending op :( big hugs to you (()) but I'm delighted to heat that you are due to have a hol soon - it really clears the mind & refreshes & energises the spirit :j .

I'll be keeping you company on your new DFW journey & wish you lots of luck

  • Thanks everyone for your support, it makes it worth while knowing that I am not alone.

Will have a look at the payment a day but will start off slow I think on that one.

As the Forums are going to be offline today and DH is working at the flying club, I am going to take the kids to the park and do as much housework as I can as next week we have the visit from the school and I want to catch up with the ironing  so that I won't have to face it when we get back from hols.

Hope everyone has a good day off and I will catch up later, if possible.
